Audio channel control of multiple clips

    Hello all,

in this time of card based capture and mulitple clip import is there a way to diasble audio tracks in the player for all loaded clips.

Im shooting on a sony broadcast camera that records 8 tracks of audio onto sxs card. Generally i only ever need A1 and A2 but having 100's of clips all with 8 tracks im finding i need to switch off A3 to A8 on each clip individually as i edit. Is there a setting that will allow me to do it as a batch and deselect all A3 to A8 tracks.

My current workaround is to create a sequence of all clips then deselect the unwanted audio and edit from that but as the waveform redraw can sometimes take forever im just wondering if theres an easier way.

    Cheers.

    Im on MC 6.0.2

Not sure about how this will appear in your system, but here at TPC we import from XDCAM discs. Under the import "options" button, there is a tab for "XDCAM" which allows you to select whether you import 2,4,6, or 8 channels of audio. Perhaps you will have similar options for sxs.

With all of your clips in a bin you can

Ctrl A to select them all
Hold Shift + Ctrl and Click on the Bin drop down menu and select Unlink
Go to the Bin drop down menu and select Modify
From the drop down menu (Set Timecode by tracks?) choose Set Tracks
Choose the tracks you wan (V1 A1 A2?) and press OK
From the Bin drop down menu select Relink

All selected clips will now all be V1 A1 and A2 only.

These actions are reversible if you find you need one of the tracks you deselected by repeating the process above and selecting the additional tracks.

    Hello Andrewaction.

Thanks for the tip.  It works very well. I can now get rid of useless, empty, audio tracks this way.

    Thanks again
