I'm trying to minimze the time spinning beach balls appear and am looking at upgrading my graphics card from a 2009-era NVIDIA GeForce GT120 to a Quadro 2000D or a 4000. According to Avid's compatibility chart they prefer "NVIDIA GeForce family" cards. However the Quadros, while approved on the PC side, are of a different family and aren't mentioned to be aprroved on the Mac side.
Is anyone having success with a Quadro (2000 or 4000)? Or perhaps someone has another card they could recommend?
Many thanks
- Jim
Using the 4000. No beach balls or problems. I have the Vantec (http://www.vantecusa.com/gl/product/view_detail/101)
Spectrum fan to keep it cool (53c)
The 4000 works fine with MC 6.x. However, it will not provide any benefit with the MC application. The GPU is not used with Mac based MC software.
