"The Application binary file has been corrupted, please restart the system."

Hello all, we are in the process of updating our Fiber Unity systems to Avid MC 5.5.3.4 with Media Connection Manager 5.3. We've been getting the error message "The Application binary file has been corrupted, please restart the system" when opening some of the bins. After the error message, I'll press OK, and the program will save all the bins and close out of Avid. When I restart Avid, the bin is open, and works fine. Any ideas on this?

Here are some of the steps I've taken already:

    -Reinstall Avid

    -Reinstall Windows 7

Is this specific to 5.5.3.4? Should I roll back?

It has been said that this can be caused when you haven't deleted a previous patch before installing a new one.

I've reinstalled the entire OS and then installed 5.5.3 and then patched it with 5.5.3.4. Is there a clean install of 5.5.3.4?

That procedure in that order is a clean install. I have not seen this on my MC 5.5.3.4 or NC 9.5.3.4. You could go ahead and uninstall the 3.4 patch and go back to 3.3 and see if the problem persists.

My experience is that 5.5.3 is one of the most stable, reliable builds I've seen in a long time. You indicate your OS as Windows 7 - be advised that the only flavor of W7 qualified for Avid is W7 Professional 64, SP 1.

And so our Unity gurus get a look at this, I'm moving this thread to the Unity Work Groups Forum.

Me too! Same problem on version 7. I had this problem on 6.5 as well. I rolled back to 6.0.1 and everything is fine.

BTW, I get this error message only when I open old bins or old projects.

I found this anwser... Create a new project and new bins and the problem will be fixed.
