Avid 6.0.1 Lion 16 Gigs RAM. AMA P2's G Drive 1T external
Starting a project and looking through the clips. I have a lot of small clips in the bin. All is fine for a few minutes then I click to put one in the source monitor and it doesn't appear until I hit play. And I can't scrub through. Interestingly I can still scrub audio, but i usualy I have that off.
Closing and reopening the program fixes it, but not for long. The first sign is that the the all of a sudden the highlight jumps to the top clip the bin (the last chronologically). I realize what's happened when I click play and see the unexpected clip.

When toolsets exhibit bizarre behavior, it's time to examine what we refer to as "The Usual Suspects":
1. Project settings - can sometimes become corrupted. It the problem is contained to one specific project and is not visible in others, quit the application and from the specific project folder in the master "Avid Projects" folder, delete the "(project name)settings.avs" file. On re-launch, the system will detect the missing file and a new one.2. Site settings - can sometimes become corrupted. If the problem appears in any project, quit the application and from the settings folder with Avid Media Composer in the path, delete the following: MC State, Site_Settings, Site_Attributes. On re-launch, the system will detect the missing files and build new ones. If you previously dragged any user settings into the site settings window, those will need to be restored after the rebuild.3. User profile - can sometimes malfunction and cause bizarre issues. Create a new user profile and see if the problem persists.
Also, you should go to the "Avid Editor Patches" link at the download center, download and install the 6.0.1.1 patch file. It has many fixes. Don't forget to deactivate your software license (unless you're running on a dongle) before you uninstall 6.0.1. In the Mac world, each version, whether it's a full upgrade or a patch, requires that you completely uninstall the current version first.

I think it was an AMA problem. I took your advice and it didn't gp away, but transcode seems to have done it.
Thanks.

Is this part really still needed? Being a noob, I followed Avid's instructions which said uninstall but did not say deactivate. Did this last night and so far all is well. Splash screen says Node Locked. I am not using a dongle.
BTW, as others have said, this is 2012 and the Avid method is quickly becoming anachronistic.
Y'all be cool,
Robert
