Not sure that does DNxHD 444, Pat. Are you sure about that?

No not sure but I thought Metafuse had been updated for V6?

    If I get a chance I'll have a play.

DL center is still on 2.5 of March 2011. That version does not allow me to choose any other color space than YCrCb709, and only 4:2:2 versions of DNxHD, in 8-bit or 10-bit.

Thansk for that. Shame Avid aren't upto date with it?

Do we know if there are plans for Metafuse or will it become like media log (the tool that if it had been enabled for AMA would have been a killer Avid application)?

Re: How can I transcode DPX to DNxHD 444?

Just wanted to folllow up on this thread.  Any development on MetaFuze?

I want to convert DPX into 4:4:4 media.  I'm currently on Symphony 5.5 so I was hoping to convert to Uncompressed 10bit RGB (444).  Doesn't seem like Metafuze will output 4:4:4 media.

Any idea if it will ever been updated with 4:4:4 support?  What are our options at this point?  Is Avid DS the only option for working with DPX files (and keeping the 4:4:4 color space)?

    thanks,

    Peter

    Resolve 9 handles DPX's and has a render to DNxHD 1080P 444

Re: How can I transcode DPX to DNxHD 444?

Thanks for the email.  I do know there are many other applications for converting clips (I think FCP does it, nuke does it, After Effects and Smoke too I think).  Guess I was wondering if Avid offered any solutions to this problem?  Looked like v7 awnsered a few of the problems people have been having and I hoped they might have updated Metafuze with RGB output.

MetaFuze does not seem to have changed for a long time,,, so will it change?. I do not THINK MC7 will handle DPX. Resolve lite (free) has the same 444 export.

FWIW this would give you a fairly easy workflow by keeping the  DPX's on Resolve CPU (Resolve opens from a media folder like AMA). In Resolve render to DNxHD 36 plus an AAF export to MC for offline.
After the cut is finalised AAF back to Resolve and link to the original DPX's for grading or or just render back to 444 media.

Another way of skinning this cat if you are on a Mac is to use Aja DPX to QT convertor:

If you load the Aja Codecs you can make an  AJA QT reference of the DPX's and then use AMA to injest, trancoding to 444 media in MC.

It seems to retain 10 bits, and comparing some F3 material through the AJA route with the same footage that had been laid off to tape dual link and digitised from SR looks identical.

Soon MC7's fully managed AMA media MAY improve this from a good option to a great one
