    Export/Import individual user settings.

    Is it possible to export/import a particular user setting ie. keyboard layout.

    I wish to bring my keyboard layout from my user settting into another editor's already established user profile. It's the only element I wish to import.

    The easy way I do it is to copy any settings I want into the site settings whilst under the user settings of user1 (site settings are under the special menu.

    The change to user 2 settings and drag the required settings back out of the site settings into users 2s settings. There are otehr ways as well.

    The other way Pat refers to is (with the "settings" tab active in the project window), go to File>Open Setting File. Then, navigate to the particular user's folder you want to copy from, open that folder and select the "(user name)settings.avs" file. Another window opens with that user's entire settings profile. Find the setting you want and drag it into the existing user profile open in the project window - add or replace as you desire.

    Larry's method has another advantage: when you drag a setting into the setting window it's checked for compatibility with the version you're running and either adjusts accordingly or tells you it's incompatible.  Better to know this up front rather than finding out later when things appear to go wonky.  (That's a technical term...)

    Thanx for the feedback! The "load settings" worked perfectly. Knew there was a simple way!

    Just grab your whole settings file and carry it with you.

    If you do need individual settings, open that setting file (when in Settings, select File > Open Settings) and drag the settings you want to copy to a new user.

    Well here we are in 2021, and I'm wondering how to bring my old settings forward. I can't seem to drag a user settings into the site settings as we used to, and the project window/settings tab is no longer with us.  How do we do this now?

    EDIT- Just found the site settings under "Window" for dragging. But what about version 2 that Pat suggestions and Larry clarified? Like the idea of checking compatibility.

    Open Settings (Edit->Preferences->User).

    Then File->Open Settings File, navigate to the 'source' user and open that Settings file. Select items from source user and drag them to current user.

    That's pretty much how that used to work. Only the Settings have moved to Edit->Preferences, and have been split into various tabs, one of which is your user.
