It works for me in 5.5.3, and I'm pretty sure that it did in 5.5.2.  As Hans said, some details of your workflow might help.

It is the same here in version 6.0. I drag the region stabilizer on to the clip in the timeline, but if select the button auto zoom on this has no effect. This seems to be a bug in Avid FX 6.02.

You need to clarify if you are seeing this with the Region Stabilize effect in MC 6 or from inside of Avid FX 6 when having done a stabilizing, both of those effects needs a tracker to be used initially, have you done that

edited ...  just remembered that the tracker in the Avid Region Stabilize filter is running when rendering afterwards, better to use the ordinary Avid Stabilizer, gives you more control

Re: Region Stabilize - auto zoom.

I am seeing probably the same problem here.  Using MC 6.0.1 Windows, I applied a Region Stabilize effect in a 1080p23.976 project, Model=Translational, with Auto Zoom and Progressive Source both checked.  After rendering, it turns out that the image has actually zoomed in, BUT it is cropped incorrectly, so that a black margin creeps into the shot.

It worked fine in MC 5.5.
