Take a 4 hours coffee break, they are redoing all the dls now I believe as MC 6 is going to be released in a couple of hours, not the same plugins for 32 and 64 bits systems

MC 5.5 does not support AVCHD by AMA, does it?
That's one of the new features of MC 6!

No, it does not. As you say, AVCHD via AMA is in MC6, which isn't out until later today.

I recall reading something (on these boards?) about certain flavors of AVCHD being AMA-able and certain flavors being fast-import-able. Is that true? If yes, details?

In 5.5 and earlier, no version of AVCHD works via AMA. In 6.0, you can use AMA to link to AVCHD. I haven't tried it with 6.0, so I don't personally know if there are any caveats or exceptions. I haven't seen any reports of any, or read about any in the What's New documentation.

Just FYI, I have tested the AVCHD-AMA component in MC6 and it works great. Playback in RT even on my non-qualified machine. I did a quick project using it, sent out a QT Ref file to Avid DVD and made an SD DVD. Never had to transcode or anything. Very impressive and if you work with AVCHD material, you will really want to upgrade to MC6.

Any idea if it works with 24 Mbps AVCHD ("MXP" mode in Canon camcorders) ? Or is it limited to the BD-compliant 17 Mbps rate ?
It works with the 24 mbps codecs from my Sony, I think that they are quite similar, if you want to know for sure, I could do a test if you link out a small clip.
Just got your clip Benoit, 16,20 in length, first linked perfect using AMA over my wired lan and then transcoded to DNxHD 185 x , time 15 secs , better than realtime that is ....
I can not export to QTref without transcoding. In fact, I can't export to anything without transcoding.
