We just reinstalled MC to fix an issue. Installation runs in loop. Installs software. Reboots. Says Windows is updating for MC. Finishes. Click on MC to open. Starts again into Windows updating for MC. When rebooting machine. It all starts over.
We CANNOT access MC at this point. And, we have deadlines today with clients waiting.
This is happening with 2021.3 and 2021.6. This should not be this hard. In all the years of using this sofware I've never seen it do this.
Any thoughts on this?

Did not happen here with either of those installs on W10 . I would do try a complete MC uninstall. Reboot the computer. Hopefully W10 does not try and update itself (I am finding W10 getting more insistent about updating itself. or taking the opportunity to do so when restarting to complete the MC install... a regal PIA)
Manually download the update installer from your account. Unpack the installer at the root level of the C:\ drive then install from this new copy. Good luck
This happens when you try to launch MC from the shortcut on the desktop, correct?
Delete the shortcut and go to the installation directory: C:\Program Files\Avid\Media Composer
Locate the Media Composer application file.
Right-click it and choose Send to > Desktop (Create shortcut)
That should fix it, and Media Composer should now launch when you use the new shortcut.
I don't know what causes it, but I've seen this happen many times over the years.
Thank you Matt and AndrewAction for the tips. We've never seen this in all the years of Avid and with any other program. This was not an issue previous to our support call on Thursday with Avid and we've had no W10 updates. And we're not seeing this with any other programs that need installing.
No worries!
But most importantly, did you manage to get MC working?
Hi Matt,
Yes, finally resolved the issue. Our HP ZBook G6 was running two malware/antivirus programs that prevented it from installing and running.
HP Sure Sense & HP Sure Click. Once uninstalled or deactivated things worked. Wouldn't trade HP support and their workstations but that little hiccup is in our notes for future issues and other machines.
Good to know, and thanks for the update. I'll keep that in mind for the future, as I'm sure I'll see it again!
