Hey everyone,
I'm on a project with multiple ediors all using their own external drives. We recently got some new XDCam footage which I ama'd then consolidated onto the first project. I then consolidated those files again onto a portable drive to injest them onto the second project, but when I brought up the files in media tool, all the time codes were completely off. The first clip is suppose to start at 17:24:22:20 as it is does the first project, but on the second project it reads as starting at 10:28:45:10.
The time codes in the second project don't even progress with eachother. That same first clip ends at 10:49:30:13, while the next one starts at 10:50:04:00, so according to the TC 30 seconds disappeared, although all the clips are the correct durration and we're not actually missing any footage.
Then about half way through the bin half the clips adopt the correct time code while others remain off by hours.
Has anybody ever experience anything like this before? The exact same media files, both computers (Mac) running the same version of MC (7), but somehow this second system is spitting out totally random TC.
Thanks!
Hello,
Were you able to ever resolve/answer this? I was recently assisting some students on upresing their offline cuts and ran into a very similar problem.
Camera files were linked and transcoded to DNx36. Once I (AMA) linked back to the native XDCAM camera files, the timecode on my transcoded clips completely changes to a different TC from original camera clips - not in any predictable or logical way either - so it is impossible (to me, so far) to relink the sequence back to the card files for upres.
The only solution is to use the absolute frame numbers in V1 Source timecode info to find the in points on linked camera files and manually overwrite back into timeline. Kind of sucks.
The weird thing is the footage was shot in the same format with same model camera (PMW-200) in two different shoots/"batches" about 6 months apart. All the footage from the first batch has this TC shift problem. All the footage from the second batch links normally without any problems. Makes me think there is some issue with how camera laid down files or metadata in the first batch.
I have used a lot of XDCAM material and have successfully implemented this workflow many times. This is the first time I have encountered TC shifting so unpredicatbly and inconsistently. Any new info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Do you still have have the original bins with a AMA linked clips before they were transcoded?
If so I believe there is a workflow that allows you to link your DNx36 sequence back to the original AMA linked clips by taking theDNx36 transcoded clips temporarily offline (not one I have used myself).
