In this episode of The Rough Cut, I sit down with editor Tim Squyres on stage at the 2012 Boston SuperMeetUp. Tim, having just finished editing Ang Lee's "Life of Pi" the Monday prior, has lots to share about shooting and editing in 3D, the role of the assistant editor on feature films, and his approach to cutting documentaries vs. narrative films. As Senior Manager for Avid's Post Solutions Marketing, it's my job to lead the marketing strategy of Avid’s video editing systems and their related storage and infrastructure solutions. A big part of my job, and certainly my favorite, is the creation of content that educates and inspires existing and potential customers. A prime example of this is our podcast (The Rough Cut). It's given me the opportunity to connect future filmmakers with industry pro's such as Morgan Spurlock, Kevin Smith, Doug Liman and Ben Affleck.
