JVC not capturing

I bought a cheap consumer camera to capture long tapes with but it will not work with composer. I tried auto-configure and it is not picking up the camera. Does avid support consumer cameras? I know it doesn't support 24p in JVC. The camera model is the JVC gr-d372u. Thanks Mike
