The EX3 footage rewrapped to MOV are for you unusable unless you have a Mac with FCP installed. Then you can reencode the MOV to DNxHD which Avid can eat. The better way is to use the original MP4 files. Download XDCAM EX ClipBrowser. If you have MP4 alone (not in standard SxS file structure accompanied...

Given footage from a Sony XDCAM EX on hard disk (only, no longer present on the camera), in both its original form (BPAV) and the "MXF for NLEs") previously generated by Sony ClipBrowser (prior to the existence of MC3.5), what is the best way to make use of it in an Avid Sequence? I tried importing...

I didn't read your system specification. I think the first support for XDcam EX files first appeared in version 2.8. I remember testing it in that version. You should be eligible to upgrade to this version for free from 2.7. PP

The AAF export produces AAF files as master clips for MC's bin and MXF files suitable for MC as well. So you have to put the MXF files to \\Avid MedaFiles\MXF\ structure. It's safer to make new numbered folder and put MXF files there. Upon launching the MC creates the databases and then you have...

I tested EX files in MC 2.8.4 and it worked. I used the ClipBrowser v. 2 and rewrapped the files from MP4 to MXF. When I put the 1080p/30 files to timeline of 1080i/60 project it screamed that mixing progressive footage is not good but it allowed me to continue. So if you get Wrong format message in...

Concerning the AAF import: When you don't forget to point the Avid MediaFiles structure correctly, it works. But it's pointless since the AAF import doesn't retain metadata (such as In and OUT) made in Clip Browser. Just rewrap MP4 to MXF using Clip Browser. Then, If you have MC 3.0: In your...

I was asked to save a friends project that someone else didn't finish. What I've been told is that the files were shot XDCam 23.98 Mpeg4, then imported into Sony Vegas using it's MXF Explorer converting the Mp4 files to MXF. Is this footage even HD if shot with the MP4 compression setting...
