Thanks, I did notice last night that when I selected the precomputes there were some files that were not selected and said they were mixdowns, so it's nice to have your clarification.

Well, maybe not too long ago in relation to some of the other Avid editors out there. I made my first short film in the early 70's when I was still in grade school. From that point on, I was hooked on film. In the early 80s I went to college for film production and discovered video. Editing video...

Hello, I badly need help on this. Im trying to export a high quality qucktime file from my timeline. Project: 1080i, HDV material, NTSC, sony Z1 & Z7 Delivery Requirement: HDV, DVCPRO-HD or APPLE PRO REZ HQ. I can only see DVCPRO but not DVCPRO-HD. I tried using DVCPRO but it always exports it to...

Thanks. The QTpro route is a good one. I'll give it a try. The problem with QTref is - it does not work unless you mixdown the video tracks, so it doubles the processing time. I get the long-GOP error mesage when I attempt to export directly from my main timeline. Actually, we ended up exporting...

Is it possible to do a video mixdown that also mxdowns or at least preserves the audio track in sync with the video?
-
It only recompresses it if you add another composite layer before doing the mixdown. The same is true with a submaster effect - if you drop it over a master clip and do a render, it should just copy the media of the master clip into the submaster render.

I'm pretty sure it 'copies' it. I did some difference matte tests in Photoshop a while ago to try and answer this very question, and the mixed-down and unmixed-down frames were identical (at least visually) Anecdotally, the speed of mixing down rendered vs. unrendered effects would also support...

I have been through some trouble with a current project in my AVID MC 2.8, and now I can't cut it to tape My client had a PAL beta SP tape converted onto a mini DV PAL tape. I am capturing with 1394 fire wire directly from a camcorder (Sony Z1, set to DV). The system denied capturing because of time...
