hello, We had the excact same problem (no sound in imported mp3's) when we upgraded from mc 2.8 to mc 3.0.5. The problem was fixed when we updated quicktime 7.0.1 to 7.4.1 So my guess is the problem would be fixed if you updated your quicktime to any recent version.

Here's a colorspace oddity: Why do smpte bars exported with the same 601 export settings to Quicktime DV look different (darker) than bars expored to Quicktime Uncompressed or Quicktime Prores (lighter)? Then all import back into the Avid with the same levels. Does DV codec have some hidden video...

Hello everyone. I'm currently trying to import DNx QTs into the Avid and when I capture the files the color looks all washed out and low-contrast. I know that this can be affected by setting the "File Pixel to Video Mapping" setting to 601/709 , but when I set that and re-import, I still...

Can file import look as good as SD SDI capture? How many applications can make 601 compatible files for Avid's "601 color level" import? I've seen After Effects mentioned here -- are there others? Is 601 file compatibility a video standard or just an Avid one? From what I can gather...

I apologize if this is obvious or I missed the thread but I did search. What is the best HD export for FCP of a Quicktime file (not an AVID project, just a QT file). We have tried DNxHD and that works if you put an effect on it in FCP but I'm looking for a codec that is natively imported without...

Hi, I'm looking to import dailies into my Avid system from DVD. I know that there are two ways to do this: (1) use Cinematize (or an equivalent program) to convert the VOB files to QT and import them to Avid, or (2) plug a DVD player into the Mojo and use the Capture tool. I have been struggling...

If the place you're sending the video to can import Avid codec QuickTimes, your best bet is to export out "Same as Source". Unless things have changed with the codec, they're free to distribute, so you could send along the codec as well.

I was asked to save a friends project that someone else didn't finish. What I've been told is that the files were shot XDCam 23.98 Mpeg4, then imported into Sony Vegas using it's MXF Explorer converting the Mp4 files to MXF. Is this footage even HD if shot with the MP4 compression setting...

Hi, We've been supplied some MXF files for testing by one of our clients. The codec within the MXF wrapper is IMX, I believe that they were encoded using either Flipfactory or a Telestream Pipeline. I'm fairly certain we should be able to use these directly in Media Composer, but every time we...
