Hi guys. I'm new to the forum and new to Avid. I had a few questions concerning locators. I'm working as an assistant editor on a TV show in Canada. Part of the gig is watching the footage and making notes on the clips via LOCATORS. I'm a decent typist so I thought I could speed up the process...

I've had this problem previously also with Avid Xpress pro, so I truly don't know what's wrong! In the Export the film just looks horrible!! Have little stripes all over, especially in fast movements. I've used the 25i pal option and exported in interlaced. I'm using Panasonic DVX100ae...

When I start up the Avid editing software, there is a box telling me that Quicktime is not installed on the system. I have istalled Quicktime version 7 on the computer. Still, Avid won't let me import audio clips or export my projects. What do I have to do?

1. When (if at all) will Avid be able to easily exchange media and sequences with After Effects, Color, Shake and the rest of the world? 2. Here's an interesting dilemma. I will digitize video from a DVD into Final Cut because for some reason, the audio will not come through directly into avid. Then I will export the file without any compression, and when the avid imports it, the images are much darker. Any suggestions? Thank you

Having succeeded in entering Japanese text into the SubCap Generator, I began to wonder if I could export it easily and then import it into AvidDVD. That was not as easy as I had hoped for. However I did find a way to do it in the end. The method will work for subcaps in any language. Regards, Douglas

Here's a colorspace oddity: Why do smpte bars exported with the same 601 export settings to Quicktime DV look different (darker) than bars expored to Quicktime Uncompressed or Quicktime Prores (lighter)? Then all import back into the Avid with the same levels. Does DV codec have some hidden video...

I apologize if this is obvious or I missed the thread but I did search. What is the best HD export for FCP of a Quicktime file (not an AVID project, just a QT file). We have tried DNxHD and that works if you put an effect on it in FCP but I'm looking for a codec that is natively imported without...

If the place you're sending the video to can import Avid codec QuickTimes, your best bet is to export out "Same as Source". Unless things have changed with the codec, they're free to distribute, so you could send along the codec as well.
