Thank you for replying and letting me know there is an Image Identification solution that works with MC. Could you please let me know how to get the Image Identification user option for the Media Composer? Does it have a specific name? What do you mean "you can find it installed between the keyboard and chair?"

Thank you!

Real multi-core please

When I export, import, make render etc... Avid 6 on a Mac only use ONE core, and no more than 2Gb RAM at most. The Mac Pro has 12core and 24Gb of RAM and does the work as far as a PC with low specification. That's crazy.

I think nowadays it's necesary real multicore process; multi-render sequences (render more than one sequence at a time); and a render/export queue. If all of these can do in background would be great.

I know there are different software like Sorenson, but I think it's better if MC can do it alone. Now MC can export several sequences at a time, but all of them must have the same settings. A render queue like After Effects would be great; because sometime I need to do differents compression formats for the same sequence.

Please can we have this as a feature?

And it occurred to me that the option to see a small preview of a file as it's being imported would be really useful.

Especially if you could use the locater keys to add locaters as you go.

It could have a tick to enable disable it to speed up the import process if not needed.

Even better would be to display the related timecode as well.

This would also help with those long imports that end up with a white screen as you could quit much earlier!

I've never worked on a production were the embedded sound was used. It comes from an external source Always.

So the "empty" sound tracks just takes up unnessecary diskspace and project space.

When importing P2 via Clips to Bin, they shouldn't go offline when restarting MC! This is a longstanding situation with absolutely no good explanation. I understand the intention is to immediately Consolidate the media to edit drives, but this isn't always the case. The absurd thing is the correct drive path will still be there, but the media is now offline and can't be recovered.

2. Import P2 -> Clips to Bin can be so much better. Generally I don't get P2 cards from a shoot - I get a firewire drive loaded with one folder for each offloaded card. So when I bring them into the Avid, I have to Import each folder, individually. This really sucks when importing 50 cards+, as I've had happen. What's worse, with every single import, you have to re-locate the path - it doesn't stick to the last path chosen, it defaults to My Computer. I should be able to select a main folder containing various subfolders of P2 media, and MC should be smart enough to extract them all at once.

Am I making sense here? I'd love some feedback.
