My tired, weary eyes cannot search any more. I apalogize if I missed it somewhere.

My problem is that Avid DVD by Sonic will not let me save new projects. I am untterly confused. I have uninstalled the program and re-installed it, rebooted and tried other trick but it has all been to no avail.

So, finally I am posting it here in the hopes that someone has heard of a similar problem and hopefully it is simple.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I really want to know how to export chapter marks from Avid's timeline. I know that you can do this inside the DVD app., but I still find this really useful when working with a long form project and you need accurate marking.

We're currently working on a two-hour seminar DVD and the marks can be easily and accurately done in the timeline itself. It's just a challenge to scrub through a two-hour title on the AvidDVD timeline.

I used to watch the tutorial on a training DVD that came with our installers but we lost it somehow.

Can someone please list down the steps?...or point me to a link somewhere?

Thank you.

However I sometimes felt that newcomers like myself needed a much more basic approach to many of the things that were being taken for granted.

The first 20 or so tutorials were specifically made to help migrants from Avid/Pinnacle Liquid. However, many of those contain tips that can be useful to any newcomers.

The two main points that I have learned since arriving here are:

1. Media Composer has many, many ways of achieving a given result. My tutorials usually show only 1 of them. Be flexible and experiment for yourself. Nothing is set in stone.

2. If you are coming from a different NLE family, try and leave your old workflows behind you.
Don't try and figure out how to emulate them in MC.
The sooner you begin to accept the MC way, the sooner you will get up to speed and discover its flexibility.
It took me only 14 days before I completely stopped using Liquid.

SEE ALL THE TUTORIALS HERE on the MEDIA COMPOSER - PC FORUM

The tutorial page is, as the title above says, "Expanding".
Please drop in every now and then to see what has been added!

Hope you find something useful.

Everybody should check this!!

After searching for a long time (3years) I finally found a way to make great dvd,s that work & look great on TV, plasma, LCD and projectors!

Throw away sonic and squeeze (if you used it to make a DVD) they don't do a good job and squeeze has got a lame mpeg2 codec.

This is what I did; export qt (no ref) use animation codec, single field, rgb (I choose it and it’s always better, even on a TV) million+ colors, highest quality. (I always render my titles 120/185 mxf or in 25i 1:1 mxf)

Buy nero9 (or at least one with Nero vision)

Open Nero vision, make DVD, import qt, import sound as wave file, in preferences click super resolution and there's a button preventing field problems (just click it although it’s single field).

Let Nero do the transcoding to mpeg2 (real mpeg2codec, not squeeze bullcrap!) And burn your DVD!

Watch it on plasma, LCD, TV, projector and cry with happiness!!

I know I did not post my specs but if Nero doesn’t work... Buy a real computer!

If nobody can tell me how to do it and just say, hey run some tests, then I say throw away their crappy software and Nero burn it!!!!
