Not a Tutorial, but......

I could not find the method of uploading a video file without placing it in some category.
So I ended up uploading it in this area where i usually upload.

Please excuse my intrusion.

hello,

i just purchased media composer 3.5 for mac and am just adapting to some of the changes made for the hot key/controls. i had avid express pro hd for pc and there are a few subtle changes i have yet to figure out.

i have searched the interface and help section but to no avail. how do i do the following?

1) where is the hot key or control for zooming manually? it used to be just pressing the arrow keys up and down to zoom - i changed it so the "focus" button is now the arrow key but it only zooms to one default.

2) how do i load filler? i can only see the option to load filler at the start.

3) how do i widen the tracks and adjust colors? it used to be that i could just stretch the tracks when hovering over it, but i cant do that in this version - id also like to change the color of the timeline as i dont like the default.

Expanding Library of Media Composer Tutorials

I am a relative newcomer to Media Composer (early 2008) and as I began to feel my way around I got the idea of documenting my adventures by creating short video tutorials,
Avid had already a large number of excellent, professionally produced tutorials online.
I learned very much from watching them. However I sometimes felt that newcomers like myself needed a much more basic approach to many of the things that were being taken for granted.

The first 20 or so tutorials were specifically made to help migrants from Avid/Pinnacle Liquid. However, many of those contain tips that can be useful to any newcomers.

The two main points that I have learned since arriving here are:

1. Media Composer has many, many ways of achieving a given result. My tutorials usually show only 1 of them. Be flexible and experiment for yourself. Nothing is set in stone.

2. If you are coming from a different NLE family, try and leave your old workflows behind you.
Don't try and figure out how to emulate them in MC.
The sooner you begin to accept the MC way, the sooner you will get up to speed and discover its flexibility.
It took me only 14 days before I completely stopped using Liquid.

Adding "Black" vs "Fillers"

In response to a question in the MC PC Forum I made a "quick" video tutorial.
The thread in the forum continued to get responses from other users and now contains quite a lot of good tips about different ways of adding "Black" or "Fillers".

Experienced users sometimes forget that newcomers have problems with "simple" things. As a migrant from "Liquid" I found the concept of "fillers" to be a little difficult at first. Here is a very short tutorial that may help newcomers.

I've asked this question before, and all I got was, "Look it up in the manual." Well, I don't have access to my manual at the moment, so some help would be appreciated.

I've just edited my video, and it has an extra minute or two of blank space at the end. I can't seem to get rid of it. I select all of the filler area and hit delete, but it doesn't do anything. I hate having this dead space at the end of my video.

How do I get rid of it?
