playing quicktimes in MC5

i will be visiting here often, it seems, as i am switching back to AVID after starting a project in FCP years ago. so here goes it, and your patience with my ignorance is appreciated:

when i try to play my quicktimes (some of them DF, some NDF) in a new avid project (set at 30i NTSC because all my footage is digitized as DVCAM, including the HDV footage, since i started shooting 10 years ago), it plays them out of sync when linked via AMA and also when transcoded, but not when imported. only thing is, when i import, i lose exact TC (start time same, end time different).

mind you all this is without even getting into timelines, converted or newly generated. just raw clips...

what am i doing wrong?

all advise appreciated (have yet to convert via automatic duck, still just testing the media.
