entering/exiting effect mode with keyboard in MC 3.5

I'm running Media Composer v. 3.5. When I was using Express Pro, I was able to enter AND exit effect mode by pressing ], the default key. With MC, ] enters effect mode, but will not exit it. I've had to use [ to enter trim mode, and then press it again to exit trim mode and get back to my normal timelime, or else I have to exit out of the effect window. This is a very frustrating little niggle, and I wondered if anyone could help. Assigning effect mode to different buttons doesn't make a difference.

How to Reset Effects?

Hello,

This could be basic. How do you quickly reset all the parameters of an effect to its default? Say I've done several tweakings but then decided to start from scratch.

I know I can just reload a fresh one but just wondering if there a way to do a quick-reset.

Which Effect to Use?

Hi folks,

I have a speeded up video of downtown pedestrian traffic. On top of that video I have a greenscreen effect of a businessman looking at the camera. I want to create an effect in which the businessman seems to appear with blurring speed (out of the speeding crowd) and stop front and center, looking into the camera in normal speed.

I know about the chroma key effect, but which effect would help me do the blurring speed effect? Any thoughts out there?

To render (green dots) or not to render??? That's the question.

Can someone help me out with this (simple) question?

I'm working on an Avid Media Composer v2.8.0.

We export our edits to Quicktime Movie for FTP to the studio.

We always use a light color correction (Image / Color Effect) with contrast and saturation ajustments.

The effetcs show up as a green dot in the timeline.

Do we really have to render the timeline before we export it to QT Movie?

Because it will render all the effects when I press Render In/Out.

Or will it render the effects realtime or during export anyway?

hi,

So, i think i found and removed the bad font becasue I can now launch Avid MC even with the caption file in the package. Now, it's just the MagicBullet Looks that's killing me. It still freezes my system everytime I apply it.

Please, I need your help.

TC Burn Effect Causing Bus Error

TC Generator Causing "Bus Error..."

Hello,

It's my first time to encounter this. I recently reinstalled MC 3.1.3. All my plugins were properly reinstalled and everything looks good untl I tried the TC Generator --- It causing the dreaded BUS ERROR!

I already removed/refreshed data base files, repaired disk permissions & rebooted but it's still doing it. I even tried creating new project and tried changing formats (30i/1080i) but no luck.

Any ideas?

1 Clip - Multiple Effects - Basic Nesting Concept

Most Newcomers fall into the trap of dragging yet another effect onto a clip which has already an effect applied.
The results are met by questions on the Forums like, "Isn't it possible to add multiple effects to a clip?"
Here is the answer - Yes, it is.

Stumbling around in the Effect Palette - 1. A Ray of Light

There are so many effects and variations on effects that it is very easy to overlook one that might just be what you are looking for.

From time to time I will add a short tutorial on some effect that I may have stumbled across in the Effect Palette.

This one is known as "Streaky Rays".

Handwriting Effect with AvidFX

Making text appear to be written onto the screen can be easily done with the Paint Effect.
However the text that you write with a mouse or even a graphic tablet can leave a lot to be desired.

This tutorial shows one method of using a standard Handwriting Font as your base for the effect.
