Avid Media Comp 3, Mac a pc, y captura audio

Mi equipo es un Mac book pro y tengo dos preguntas referentes al uso de Avid:

1 ¿Cómo puedo capturar canales de audio en 12bits de mi canon xl1s? La citada cámara graba 1 canal stereo en 16 bits (ahí no hay problemas) o 2 canales stereo en 12 bits, en este caso me encuentro con que al ir a capturar lo grabado no hay manera. Ninguna de las modificaciones de los setings de captura y proyecto han funcionado.

2 ¿Cómo intercambiar proyectos entre plataformas mac y pc? Tengo también un equipo pc con el que he intentado intercambiar proyectos exportándolos y el mac no los abre, y eso aunque son proyectos sólo de datos, sin media.

Error while exporting "too few samples in destination buffer"

Hi there,

I've got this weird error coming up all the time while trying to export a clip to an external HD:

SpecificSRconverterBaseRAW_FORMAT::Process()

Too few samples in destination buffer.

Num of Them: 44026

Minimum Needed:44032

What the hell does that mean?!?!? The clip is 3'40" long, 3 video tracks, 4 audio tracks, 25i PAL, nothing special. I've tried a video mixdown, tried a different drive... always the same error. I'm exporting "same as source". Thanks so much for your help!

Moving a project from Composer to Xpress Pro

I'm trying to move a project from Avid Composer on a PC unity system to a Mac-based Xpress Pro system with an attached single disk.

I got the project and media copied from the UNity System onto a USB 2.0 Drive - the project will open in Xpress but I can't relink the media to that on the drive. A friend suggested copying the media out of the Unity file structure and putting it all in the MXF/1 file structure of Xpress Pro and although XP now seems to scan the media and find the files (it quarantines about half of them now saying they're 'not MXF' - which they're not - they're OMF but it lets lots of OMF files through. I've tried trashing the media database files etc but so far no sign of media linking up to the project anyone got any ideas?

I'm using Avid Xpress Pro 5.8.4 on a MacBook 2.33GHz Intel Core Duo 2GB Memory and a 1TB external USB drive.

Is there a way to insert text in Media Composer without using the title tool or Marquee. I'm trying to decide the easiest way for a beginner to make credits, lower thirds, etc.

When I import titles from Marquee they appear blurry. What can I do to fix that?

Displaying Audio Waveforms

I am new to AVID media composer and am trying to display audio waveforms. It is a wav file if that makes any difference. When I click the fast menu button, and audio date, there is NO OPTION for waveform plot. Instead my options are:

energy plot

sample plot

clip gain

auto gain

auto pan

none of which pull up the waveforms. Please help this beginner out!!!

To render (green dots) or not to render??? That's the question.

Can someone help me out with this (simple) question?

I'm working on an Avid Media Composer v2.8.0.

We export our edits to Quicktime Movie for FTP to the studio.

We always use a light color correction (Image / Color Effect) with contrast and saturation ajustments.

The effetcs show up as a green dot in the timeline.

Do we really have to render the timeline before we export it to QT Movie?

Because it will render all the effects when I press Render In/Out.

Or will it render the effects realtime or during export anyway?

I´ve got a MPEG IMx betacam (sony) and is imposible to import the xmf files... ok, i can be import, but appears with only one frame when I see the properties... and it got the size when is complete... I don´t understand...

Hello everybody!

i hope someone can help me, because i have little time left to finish my project. its horrible!

well. at first, yesterday everything works fine, i was cutting a concert with the multicam-function of the avid mc. but after maybe 2 or 3 hours of work, a f***ing problem appeared! im really angry about this, the project is really important for me....it have to work!!!! but it does not.

this is the message:

Exception: DecompStream::GetStreamingLongGOPFrame error setting decode params, status 1

in the multicam i'm using 3 DV-Cams and 2 HDV-Cams. everytime the timeline comes to an hdv-material-part, it stops and show the message!!! im really confused. how something like this happen? if i try to go on and cut another part new, i can't elect the hdv-streams!! only dv-works fine. before this error everything was fine! please help me, in this way, i cannot finish my video and this could be my financial ruin!

i hope you've understand me, plese write anything helpful for me!

Pan & Zoom Missing

Hello,

I just noticed today that my P&Z effect is missing. I had the error: Exception:MSM:No directory specified_3 last week but I fixed it by removing the bad MSM data base files.

How can I restore the P&Z effect? Any ideas?
