Any news on this topic? Have exactly the same problem. Can do it with AVIDFX or Marquee but this would be so simple and useful if the good old title tool could do the job.

If I paste any type of graphic (tried a lot of!) into the title tool it looks perfect, but in the composer window --> total color shift!

Please help.

export to QT H264 missing color warmth

Hello,

I am experimenting with exporting MXF DV 50 to QuickTime H.264 using Media Composer. My problem is that the colors are missing warmth. If you look at the export without seeing the original, you would probably not notice it, but still. I tried higher bitrates or highest compression quality and multiple cycles, but that did not help. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Can someone help me out with this (simple) question?

I'm working on an Avid Media Composer v2.8.0.

We export our edits to Quicktime Movie for FTP to the studio.

We always use a light color correction (Image / Color Effect) with contrast and saturation ajustments.

The effetcs show up as a green dot in the timeline.

Do we really have to render the timeline before we export it to QT Movie?

Because it will render all the effects when I press Render In/Out.

Or will it render the effects realtime or during export anyway?

Flicker with LCD monitor in 32 bit color mode

Hi all

Got 2 new lcd monitors (24)

I played some P2 and Beta digital footage and I'm seeing some flickering in movments from side to side

I got MC 3.1.2 with nvidia 570 card, and the thing is that when I change the color bit from 32 to 16 the fickering is gone! but I can not see a Full screen mode with that setting.

as anyone got the same problem? any Idea's ?

Creating a background box for a title

I have a person being interviewed who has a patterned shirt on. Bad planning, I know. Anyway, I want to title the person's name over their image. However, regardless of the color (black or white) I use for the title, some of it can't be seen because it is the same color as the pattern of the shirt. I can't use a "shocking bright" color due to project specs.

Is there any way to make a gray semi-transparent box behind the title text, only - leaving the person's image visible?

I've just upgraded from 3.1.1 to 3.5.

I loaded an existing project double clicked on an existing timeline and I'm being asked to promote effects (color correction) so I do and this is the error I'm getting (above). Also tried not promoting and get the same result. Any Ideas?

I've already tried to repair sequences & delete the MC state but no joy.

The fifteenth in a series of tutorials created to assist Avid/Pinnacle Liquid users who are considering migrating to Media Composer.

This Tutorial is very short and was made to show Liquid migrants that they didn't have to keep the default MC colour scheme.
The actual process of changing the colours is shown in one of my later tutorials - "Changing the Colours of Timeline Tracks and Clips".

Your exporting to MXF files does not change the MPEG2 transport stream in any way. It only rewraps it from MP4 container to MXF container. The big difference is how the applications interprete the encoded data. And another difference is what way of displaying those applications are using. It makes differencies in colors and tonalities as the Windows are not consistent with color correction and applying color profiles. The VLC uses by default "video overlay" mode for graphics card but MC abandoned it. Video overlay enables more smooth playing framerates different from display's framerate but doesn't allow color profiles. As you expect now the other mode is opposite. When you switch off the overlay mode in VLC it should be closer to Avid.

1. When (if at all) will Avid be able to easily exchange media and sequences with After Effects, Color, Shake and the rest of the world?

2. Do you plan to implement support for Apple XML (Final Cut) or other format to import/export from/to FC?

3. Would it be possible to release a comprehensive manual for console commands?
