When I export QT Refs the resulting AIFF or Wave file is always mono. I definetly have stereo audio on the timeline. If I do an audio only export (using the same sequence, same track selections) to AIFF I do get a 2 channel stereo file. Driving me nuts!

Avid Media Comp 3, Mac a pc, y captura audio

The Problem: When working with a stereo track, let's say a stereo Dialogue stem for instance, and I make some cuts, very often the stereo image shifts. Instead of the dialogue coming solidly from the center, it sounds dispersed, usually leaning slightly to the left. And when I play it in reverse, it leans slightly to the right. If you try to cut in a mono piece of dialogue, let's say, then the image shifts solidly to the center and them back. Obviously it's a problem. I've brought the problem to everyone I know including Avid and nobody has the slightest idea what I'm talking about. I thought I was crazy.

The Solution: Anyway, I had a little time to play with this because it was giving me a headache on a current project with lots of ADR. I discovered if I pan the left channel all the way to the right, and then back to the left again, do the same with the right channel, the problem goes away. It seems to reset everything and it comes back to normal.

Anyone have this experience, or am I the only one in the Avid community that has noticed it? BTW, this has happened on several machines, so I know it's not just one defective machine.

I'm trying to accomplish what I thought would be an easy task. All I want to do is slow the speed of an audio clip down by 5%. From my research, I believe I need to use the "Time Shift" Audio Plug in to do so. However, when I open up the Audio Suite from the "Tools" menu, it very quicky begins to load plug-ins but then stops at 88%. Here I get an error message that says the following: "'Sementation fault' in thread "Main Thread". at address 0xbfffd7d0" Then Avid quits by itself. Any ideas on what could be going wrong here? Or, if there is anyway to change of the speed of an audio clip for a quick fix?

Thanks in advance. Specs are below:

Avid Xpress Pro 5.8.4 w, mojo DNA

PowerMac g4

At the moment some of the footage is DVCPro, some is DNxHD 145 and some is DNxHD-TR 145. There are 3 separate sets of stereo track pairs: one is the standard sync audio, one is sync audio plus optional additional V.O., and one is sync audio plus commentary track. I need to output this project to a file that another facility can transfer to HD-Cam SR.

Question 1) Do I need to do a video mixdown or transcode the DVCPro material to DNxHD before outputting the project to a quicktime movie?

Question 2) How can I preserve six discreet tracks audio in this export? (When I try to do this with my audio project settings on Direct Out, I get an error message: "Audio Exports cannot be performed in Direct Out mode because clip-based pan info is not applied..."

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Instead, capture the R3D file directly and sync the audio from the QuickTime file.

[/quote]

Is there any way to "trick" the DS into capturing the R3d vido footage in one pass and then the audio from a Proxy file perhaps in another pass? This would give you a clip with audio and video without having to use a "sync" seq to cut from and the load up time whenever you put it into the source window. It is really nice to match back to your sources. We can't be the only people needing audio while doing an offline cut with the R3D files. IS there a DS software solution to come?

Thanks,
