I'm very aware of LFG forum and have been a regular over there for years, specially over baselight forum. Your suggestion is interesting but you should not take Resolve's architecture as a reference to Avid. Resolve base a lot of their architecture on Apple's API (metal) hence the quickly turnover to native apple silicon. Also, resolve makes

Is the media engine (prores acceleration) working with MC? Any GPU usage? Media engine should be easy to check. Just transcode to PR and DNx, check CPU usage to see if there's any change. trying to decide the right spec for a upgrade. Thanks a lot.

Has anyone ever run into an Apple Silicon Media Composer test? I know its a bit pointless without being native but I'm wondering which way to go if I upgrade. In my experience (and workflow) MC seems to use a lot more CPU than GPU, so Im wondering if oeople are getting other results from Apple Silicon. Thanks,

Why don't you ask Baselight support? Drop them an email. They are very responsive. I believe they will come out with a native version soon. Their code seem to be quite new and reliant on Metal. Alll assumptions, take them with a grain of salt.

Hey Chris, Thanks a lot for your kind and patient responses. A big thanks to the Avid team for the M1 support. But now... (in a Herzog voice) what about your blog post? Cheers!

Decode engines are not for DNxHR, only prores, h264, h.265. Having said that it's not really clear if the MAX version will run faster since Avid MC's usage of GPU has always been timid. PRO and MAX versions have the same amount of CPUs. RAM would probably be a better investment but I wouldn't be surprised if 64 and 32gb would render the

I think Lucid link with different logins (and write permissions) might work as well. Since postlab uses Lucid Link, I guess it will work without the convenience of a proper nexis (bin locking) emulation.

My guess is that MC will run really well. MC seems like a very CPU dependent software, and because it loads all open bins in memory, it will access those very fast since this SoC is a beast in bandwidth, that might be an issue if you have little RAM tho. M1 is a great piece of tech and it feels like it was designed with editors in mind, well, if you

Damm, December cannot come fast enough. My ears are hurting with this hairdryer on my table after my trusty cheesegrater died. I'm suffering from WFH intel blower fatigue.

Hi all, Even tho MC is able to import .mp3 via UME and the Source Browser, it is not working on batch re-import on my 2020.12.1. Anyone can confirm that? I managed to batch reimport .wav files. Cheers, Edu.
