  • Re: Merge/combine 2 segments into 1 uncut segment

    That's my guess too. But without an Uncompressed codec option I fear video mixdown will always add a generation of PQ loss. Fundamentally, auto-proxy should be employed in anything HD or above. FCPX does it right, but has other issues. Transcoding on MCF clearly does not use a gtx-1080 board. The more I work with MC, the more I feel LOTS of very

  • Re: 25p support

    25p is accepted as INPUT just as is 30p. I came upon the dialog box. Please upload a bit of your 25p footage so I an confirm. Anyone, please also upload dv25i50 and 1080i50 VERY BRIEF samples if you've got them. They will all become 25p and 1080p25 AFTER DEINTERLACING which I cover in the manual. Need this because I have 12 hours of DV25 60i shot

  • It would be nice if Avid ... { How much would this really cost? }

    1) Include the EQ Preset files in the folder where they are in MC. It cost Avid to remove them. 2) When one LINKS to XAVC the UHD files work, but put a big load on a system. Yes, you can transcode them to DNxHD -- but they become FHD so one cannot pan/scan to FHD from UHD. So why not INTERNALLY support transcode to DNxHR. Again, it cost money to prevent

  • Happy New Year -- extensively revised eBook now online

    You may remember the problem I posted about trying to import more than one XAVC-S file. MCF always failed and could crash. Solved it with totally revised Link and Import sections. So why stop there? So I extensively revised trimming sections. Because folks asked for it -- Pan/Scan of UHD using FrameFlex. And, because I needed them, new sections on deinterlacing

  • Has anyone at Avid noticed ...

    Here are a few pages from the MCF manual's Index. Looks like it was never updated, e.g., 1394. There are many such items that link to nothing. And, from the document itself -- do we really have all these neat audio finctions? They are documented over many dozens of pages. I don't have them, do you?

  • Old bugs remain

    Here is the Export page. Same as it has always been -- wrong. The AUDIO is NOT 48,000 Hz. And, it is not 24-bit. It's 44.1kHz and only 16-bits. I reported this in July -- how hard can it be to change this test?!? At some point I got this Error message which is invalid I believe for FIRST. Steve Mullen

  • Format seems "stuck"

    After reading another post about trying to change format I too have found a very strange issue. My Format has always been 1920x1080. So how to I get 720x480? Via page 23+ there are two ways: If LINK then first clip lets you change. If IMPORT then you can change. Fine. I quit MCF. But, now -- with no understanding why -- when I Create a new project it's

  • Re: First impressions of MC First

    As Marianna posted, you need an Internet connection BUT ONLY TO GET THE APPLICATION MANGER RUNNING! Did you even try? Yes, it doesn't import AC3 audio. But, if the poster had thought for even a second he would have realized why. There is a solution as there is a solution to no ProRes output on a PC. The other claims of what MCF cannot do, IMHO fall

  • Bug has been NOT been fixed--part 2

    It is critical that XAVC S files are transcoded to DNxHD. And First can do this. But only 1 file at a time. 4 XAVC S files have been selected for Import. MCF shows the following message 4 times. This message seems very clear--I have to LINK. But, then I get asked a question--do I want to Link and Transcode ? Since there are 4 clips I click YES TO ALL

  • Bug has been NOT been fixed--part 1

    This description in the 8.9.4 README is not very descriptive. ➤ Bug Number: MCCET-2117. The number of clips being transcoded in the transcoding process window did not always reflect the number of the actual clips being transcoded. Does this fix the inability to Import more than 1 XAVC-S? NO! (See my next post.) MCF now does Compress uncompressed video
