Haven't experienced this problem at all (8400 12 Gig ram SN 3.1.1). Pre Vista upgrade I would frequently have that problem in reverse (when digitizing) and had to fix with restarts, but post upgrade it's been working fine.

Fixed my hanging software problem. Freaking printer drivers. I had a printer on the parallel port of the 8400 which was causing the software to hang. Once we removed the print driver, SN fired up with no prob. Thanks to Josh Rizzo at Wexler for all of his help!!!

Our standard workflow involves 4:2:2 23.976 PsF source material which we need to digitize at 14:1 MXF to offline on Adrenalines at 23.976 SD. I have had this problem as well in 1080p 23.98 projects with both newly created titles and titles that were created in 1080p 23.98 projects in SN 1.8.3. None of my titles are recreated from offline and the problem in SN 3.0 is "much more frequent."

Thanks for your 2 cents. I've upgraded to 1.8.3 and everything seems fine thusfar. I haven't had an opportunity to use a D5 post upgrade yet, but I'm hoping the system is a little happier (frame accurate batching and no grey frame on layback). FYI I ended up upgrading to WMP 11 and QT 7.3 before I upped SN.

Is anyone running 1.8.3 successfully? I'm currently on 1.7.7 on an xw4800 with 4G ram and was looking to upgrade primarily to fix some edit accurracy problems with the Panasonic 3700B D5 deck which we use pretty frequently. Should I just go to 1.8 or jump up to 1.8.3? Also, does anyone know if I should be using Windows Media 10 or 11 on 1.8x? I
