  • Re: HD closed-captioning

I've had a few captioned HDCAM tapes with video hits and I replaced the bad video with a non-captioned source. You'll probably loose the captioning for the shot you're replacing and maybe for the following shot. So I think (not positive) that the captioning information slightly precedes the picture/audio. I'm not sure by how much (SD

  • Blur effect with Advanced Keyframes, alternative if not possible?

Hi, I'm blurring nudity on an animated show. It has a sort of pull-down where every shot is repeated for 4 fields then the next shot is repeated for 4 fields (but not consistently). It would save me a lot of time and effort if I could blur with shelf keyframes (otherwise known as Hold). But to enable that, the effect must be promoted to Advanced

We're you ever able to edit the captioning? Meaning, if I cut to a shot that has dialogue, then the CC for the dialogue probably precedes the video by a second or two. So to preserve the CC, you would need to wipe in the CC on the outgoing shot. This is pretty easy on SD since you can see the CC signal. But on HD, (AFAIK) there is no way to see

  • Re: HDCAM record indicator on tape machine?

The red record bulb works, it just comes on during the pre-roll instead of the edit point. I'll try another deck. It would be kinda funny if Sony forgot to include a functional record indicator.

Same thing with assemble edit. And the same thing when doing an edit locally at the deck, assemble or insert. Maybe I'll see if someone in the shop can give Sony a call.

Digital Cut and insert edits. I've never checked the record light while doing any other kind of edit, so I'm not sure if it also happens under different scenarios. On Monday I'll try to do a local edit at the deck. That way I can take the Avid totally out of the equation. Just in case this wasn't clear in the original post... the edit

  • HDCAM record indicator on tape machine?

This may be slightly off topic. When remotely editing onto tape with a HDCAM SRW-5500, there doesn't seem to be any indicator on the tape machine for when it goes into record mode. The red "record" light comes on during the pre-roll (which is weird and unsettling), and I don't see any indicator for when the tape hits the edit point

    That works. Thanks.

  • Re: Source Audio Channel Identification from Timeline

Thanks, maybe I'll try that and see if it's worth the trouble. Maybe you can help with the larger question, is there a way (like maybe "Get-Info") an audio track in the sequence and find out what channel that was on the original source tape?

  • Re: Source Audio Channel Identification from Timeline

Thanks. But it's the same clip throughout the sequence. I want to be able to tell from the Timeline, for example, where on audio track 2 I used source channel 3 and where I used source channel 2. All from the same source. I guess I could capture the same tape multiple times, one time for each audio track. But when dealing with a surround sound source
