  • 0.1% audio pull-up/down question

Some friends of mine are shooting a music video with the Canon 5D Mach II. This camera shoots 1080p30. Then the files will be transcoded to DNxHD 145 1080i59.97 and handed off to me for the edit. When they get transcoded they will be slowed down 0.1% (correct?), so their playback source on set should be 48.048 kHz (correct?). Or in the edit when I import

Check the following directory for Quicktime Components. If you don't have the right ones you can copy them from an FCP system. Harddrive/Library/QuickTime

If it was shot 24F and you want timecode you need to capture with FCP and import the QT movies that it makes. If you don't care about timecode, turn off the timecode track and set the deck to XLH1. You might have to restart Avid a few times as well.

  • Re: ergonomics for editors: best position for pen/mouse/tablet?

I like my elbow at a 90 degree angle, but be careful not to drop your wrist. That goes for your keyboard too. If your forearm angles down and then the back of your hand angles up, you are asking for problems. At least in my non-licensed medical opinion.

  • MC 4.0 1080p30 Fast Import

It's awesome that MC 4.0 provides 1080p30 as a project setting. I've been doing a lot of Canon 5D work. My prior workflow has been to use Apple's Compressor to transcode the H264 QTs the camera makes into DNxHD 145 QTs for Fast Import into a 1080i project. So last night I'm looking around to update my workflow settings to remain progressive

  • Help me with my Workflow please.

Next week I have to start editing a music video, and it looks like I'll be doing it at home on my MBP. The video is going to be shot with a Canon 5D and a HV40 in 1080p30. I already have a Compressor setting to change all of the 5D footage into DNxHD Quicktimes. I haven't tested the capturing 1080p30 from the HV40 straight into Avid, but if

  • Re: MC 4.0 & Canon 24F TC?

Damn, if you capture in FCP and then import the QT file, does the TC match?

  • MC 4.0 & Canon 24F TC?

Has anyone tested MC 4.0 with Canon's HDV 24F format? Just wanted to know if we can now capture with timecode. Thanks, Sam

  • Re: Capturing HDV tapes

Can you capture a tape shot with the HV20? Sometimes there are problems when the tape was shot with a Sony HDV camera and you are playing it back with some other brand of HDV camera. HDV isn't like DV, every company kinda has their own flavor and they are not necessarily compatible. Just a thought. In my experience with trying to capture 24F from
