  • Combining P2 and HDV media?

I would like to check if I’m heading for trouble if I attempt to edit multi-cam video from HDV and P2 sources. Up to now, I’ve been sailing along shooting HDV, transcoding to DNxHD145, manually syncing 4 cams, and getting great results for an amateur. So now for hardware reasons, I am considering getting a Panasonic HMC150, which shoots

  • Re: Avid Media Composer on Windows 7 (Beta or RC1)?

I’ve been using win 7 RC 64 since it was released. MC 3.13 runs perfectly, FW works for HDV capture, but I don’t have a mojo.

  • Re: Avid MC Hardware Bottleneck

Reddy, I run with a relatively similar system, but 6 gig, Win7RC, and easily overclocking the 920 to 3.4 gig. The system is completely stable, and wonderfully responsive. I normally edit 4x multicam in DNxHD145 with no problems. Once I tried 9 cameras, and quickly found a bottleneck with the raid system. As an experiment I reconfigured for 9 camera

  • Re: synchronizing audio tracks

No problem, I do this all the time. First import your wave file and load it into the source monitor. Now go to the timeline and make sure it is set to display audio waveforms. The trick now is to find the small button at the lower left below the timeline… which toggles the timeline view between source and sequence monitors. Be advised that if

No problem, just go to DOS and use the copy command with the /b binary option. Example: copy /b file1 + file2 + file3 outputfilename

  • Re: Avid MC 3.5 running in Windows Seven?

I tried it as an experiment (MC 3.1). The only issue I found was the video driver, because the official 169.47 driver didn’t install in the Win 7 64 bit system. One test with a Quadro 570 worked fine, but with a Quadro 1700, video would not play in the monitor… typical video driver issue. I’ll try to sort out the driver when the Win

g_f, jwrl, Kenton, Larry, There are two great thing about Avid. First, Avid is a wonderful tool of exceptional creativity, and second, there are the folks in this forum. It is true I prefer to edit musical content by just following instinct with minimal effects, BUT, I do pay close attention to all the tips, tricks and effects that are revealed here

Jwrl, Somehow I am not surprised you have music background. I don’t have a mathematical formula for cutting music, but let’s say most transitions align with a bar (i.e. not at random times), but determined when the musical flow seems right. After rough cutting in real time, I apply quick dissolves to soften the transition (just my style

It is best to learn from the pro’s, but I will chip in my 2 cents worth as a novice. I have spent the last two years working on 4 camera musical events. I am much more of a musician than a video editor, and I got started with this because I saw too many music videos or live TV cut by folks who clearly didn’t understand music. My top ten

  • Re: Settings to get the best quality DVD from HDV

I routinely use Sorenson to make SD DVD’s from QT ref of DNxHD145 media. The following are my notes for Sorenson and the Avid Quciktime Ref output. FYI, the nolintelace filter means that you sould make a custom filter and turn everything off including the automatic deinterlace. Sorrenson: ..No Interlace Filter DVD NTSF Lg elementary stream 2 pass
