Re this comment: FCP or AVID... is less of a big choice to make... it's probably more about... Editing well vs. Editing poorly... no matter the application anyone chooses. I couldn't agree more... When converting .vob to .mov, I have found that freeware MPEG_Streamclip www.squared5.com produces significantly superior results in much faster time as compared to the same process in Sorenson Squeeze. I avoid sending my timelines (ranging up to 7+ hours) to Sorenson Squeeze because SS significantly DETERIORATES the quality of what was a beautiful AMC timeline.
