My pleasure to share, I would have never known this Star Tech thing existed if it weren't for this big IT mall here in Bangkok. Whilst there is a lot of junk and factory rejects, it's fantastic for finding things I simply never knew existed. This is one of those. I went back to the shop that I first saw this thing yesterday and bought one. It's

Hi DShulkin Thanks for looking at the manual. I posted on the Cow on October 9th and hoping that someone knows or a rep from GTech respond. No response yet. But seeing from other posts what seems to be the procedure is that the drive has to be sent back to G-Tech for recovery. No mention whether the functional disk is accessible to make a user back

Hello With the GV-HD700, I think that sometimes if it's in "Auto" for HDV or MiniDV playback it causes problems to connect to an edit application. Try changing the menu settings manually to what you desire, i.e. "HDV" and see if that works. Don't forget that when you change the setting you do need to disconnect and reconnect

From a business point of view, weighing up which direction to invest in, Final Cut Studio is tough to beat talking from the point of view of the current Thai market. The hardware choices from low cost to high cost for Final Cut Studio and Premiere gives great flexibility, even a single piece of hardware can work with both. A low cost suite can be set

Hi Jayanta The native format in this project will be XDCAM-EX which Xpress Pro does not support natively but MC 3 and up does. This is the issue about the upgrade to MC4 and the hope that MC3 would then be available in the download center with the intention of using the same software as the Dutch post house. I am finding it much easier to edit projects

A portable RAID 1 hard drive seems like a great idea for offloading camera memory cards. I am considering buying the G-Tech G-RAID Mini because of this reason. But I would like to know that if a drive does fail what is the procedure for recovering the data? Perhaps it's as simple as the data being available from the operational drive with a warning

Thanks djdbennett. I am now wondering why Apple aren't offering 24GB RAM as 6 x 4GB Dimms on their web store, if this is in line with the triple channel technology. The option jumps from 16GB to 32GB. But this again makes me wonder if have 4GB on a single stick is itself a bottleneck, which I seem to remember as as issue raised in a review somewhere

Hi Jayanta, Thanks for your reply. The footage is XDCAM EX. I am thinking that if the final edit is to be completed as SD, then what I will do is using the Sony Clip Browser is convert them to DV AVIs. Then open them up in Avid Xpress Pro 5.8 and edit as a DV project. Then hopefully this can open up in MC3 without any issues. Which based on what you

I have a client who wants to shoot and edit a project in Thailand and then carry the project back to Holland in case he wants to change anything. The edit house in Holland use MC3 (not 3.5) or Adrenaline. I have Xpress Pro 5.8 and haven't upgraded yet. If I upgrade to MC4 will version MC3 be available in the Download Center under my account? I don't

I got some feed back from a supplier about this. It's interesting: "With regards to the Mac Pro 8-core memory configuration, I'm led to believe that you'll see higher bandwidth/throughput when using 3 or 6 memory Dimms as opposed to 4 or 8, meaning you'll be taking advantage of the processors' triple channel technology.
