Hello, Can anyone please explain why one would buy a media composer on a z800 instead of the z400. I know the spec (and the price tag) for the 800 is much higher but what is the benefit to me ? Or am I better off sticking to the OLD XW8600 ? Any feedback greatfully appreciated. Antonio PS Do I understand correctly that composer only works on the z series

As you can see they already have 6 jbod's in house. They would prefer to use them and possibly buy another editing station if they can use existing disks. Thanks for the effort. Antonio

I have a client that has 6 x mac based composer adren/nitris systems working standalone with each system connected to one of the above jbods. They are very interested in buying unity and are asking if they can connect these disks to the unity system. Anyone done this ? Thank you Antonio

you dont need a sas connection on the computer. The videoraid st comes with the atto 380 board. Thanks anyway. Does anyone know if the xw8400 has been qualified with the videoraid ST ? Antonio

I am considering buying the new mac pro but it comes standard (and you cannot change) with the above video board. I looked at the latest qualified workstations doc but this board is not mentioned. Can anyone help please. Antonio

I thought I should ask becase on the drawing in the user manual it just shows the disks daisy chained and there is no mention of using both ports of the hba. cheers anyway

It may be a dumb question but if I have the latest atto scsi boards (these have 2 ports) installed in my xw8400 & xw8600's, when connecting 2 x videoraids, should I have 2 seperate cables leaving the atto board and going into each videoraid OR should I have 1 cable leaving the atto board going into 1 videoraid and daisy chain it to the second

Regarding disks we have approached both firenetix and xyratex for quotes on their 2gb/s jbods. They are both quoting 750GB seagate/hitachi drives. They are also both asking the same question:- what cache do we want
