  • Re: Any viable project archiving solutions today?

I have MDV installed it seems to work, but the software is over ten years old and no further developement has been done as far as I can tell for PC since then. That just worries me a little. I used MDV for many years back around when it was first developed and many years after with subsquent versions of the software when it was still actively being

That sounds like a pain. In any given week I may have several projects I'm working on that are in various stages...often waiting on assets or approvals or something. I create numerous media files subfolders to keep some stuff separate, such as round tripped graded media from Davinci Resolve... but MC's habit of just throwing everything it imports

I just got a response from the Project Parking sales team regarding my interest in Solo Parking. It's worse than I thought. "Solo Parking is currently $750 excluding support. I may be able to find a more cost effective alternative for you but you would still be looking at around $1000 including first year of support. " I can't justify

Project Parking is what I've been looking at recently. The Solo Parking version is geared towards standalone workstations . It's $650. Which I think seems like a lot for a piece of utility software. I get it if I was a large post house and could bill that cost into jobs, but for just my projects it seems like a considerable amount of cash.

  • Re: What to do when a bin opens like this?

There is also a command under the Windows tab in the MC top menu called "Center Current". Which will center the currently selected window in the middle of the screen.

  • Re: Help! Audio Level is Maxed at +12 Still Not Loud Enough

You can use the Audio Compressor effect in the Audio Suite but you'll need to do it to each track. The Audio Compressor can compress the dynamic range and is useful for raising the apparently loudness of the audio signal by raising lower parts of the signal while lowering the high parts acording to a ratio you set and a threshold level. There is

  • Any viable project archiving solutions today?

MC's lack of any easy and straighforward project archiving abilities has been a pet peeve of mine for a very long time. This seems like such a basic tool for a professional level video editing software application to have. To make matters worse, the 3rd party tools also seem to be fairly limited. I've used MDV a lot in the past, but the software

  • Re: Avid News - Why the SUPER Emphasis on NAB Attendees?

I went to NAB last year and poked around the Avid booth. It wasn't like they were handing out tons of collateral and making announcements with a bullhorn. For the most part, it was just like any other trade show demoing product. I don't know how it was this year as I couldn't attend due to some conflicts, but they pretty much just had sales

  • Re: Add filler using In and Out points?

You can add multiple effects to a clip by "nesting" them. There are step-in and step out buttons that will allow you to do this. You can Load Filler into your source window, by clicking the clip name and choose load filler. Then put in and out points in your timeline select the track above your video track and overlay the filler.

  • Re: Stereo audio tracks are only mono in my multi cam project

Certainly not ideal, but he just has two cameras with their own audio. He's not cutting something crazy complex it seems. Syncing can be done manually pretty easily since you can easily see how the group is synced together. I'm also curious as to whether the "commit multicam edits" would replace the mono "group clip" audio
