  • Re: AVID FX Titling demos & advice

Wow, thanks Steve and Douglas (and I know who is who, there was just slight confusion from near-simultaneous posting). Steve, I know what you mean about not reusing complete effects. But one would (once you get it down) re- DO spline primitive effects, or play again with color media crops. Thanks, those are completely new concepts for me ... being the

Thanks Steve! For the line , what sort of color media? And what's a spline primitive? I'll poke around with those tips, see what I can do. Do you have any fave tricks of those sorts? thanks, Chuck

Douglas, My, that's quite a Zen answer. ;^) All journeys begin with one step? I still wouldn't mind a tip (or 3) on where to take that first step... Anybody? thanks! Chuck

Good thread. I was going to start a new one, but think I'll ask this here. When you go to Avid.com and the Welcome to Avid video plays, how do you: * make a white line fly in from the side, like under "storytellers " ? * blur the titles as they fly in, like "most watched" "most loved" Is that Avid FX? BCC? * And how

  • Re: H264/Uncompressed QT

I have already converted most of the clips in Sorenson, from mpeg to Avid 1:1 QT. (that's a whole 'nother 3 page thread last week... where were you??? Lol!!!) These last few clips would not import into Avid after conversion because they were longer. But I redid them in Apple Motion JPEG B, and they don't look noticeably different. Trust

Haze, thanks for the Turbo info. i want to make sure you're not confusing 2 questions I have here. The first: delivery final product of QT or H264. This will be a 2 minute finished piece. Will that be an unmanageable file size for uncompressed QT? (2 minutes). The second question I asked (above your last reply) was about getting 7 minute mpeg clips

Thanks Haze! Tomas, you are so very right! New question though... When converting the source clips from mpeg > 1:1 QT > MC, some of the source clips are 7 or 8 minutes long, but I guess because of the file size, I only get 3.5 minutes. The limit is what, 4GB? Can I change the file size limit, or should I convert at a lower res than 1:1? Again

  • Re: H264/Uncompressed QT

Thanks for the quick reply Haze! Not much I could do about the source material... Would you recommend uncompressed QT or animation codec for best quality? Or, when I contact their tech person, if he requests uncompressed QT, just give them what they ask for? Thanks!

  • H264/Uncompressed QT

Hi all, I'm baaaaaaack... My client (not video savvy) originally requested "an uncompressed QT." Now they've requested "an uncompressed H264". If H264 is a compression codec, there can't be such a thing as uncompressed H264, right? What will provide best quality? (the source is SD mpegs Squeezed to 1:1 QTs imported into
