I bet there are more than a few editors in the world who drive and own a Mercedes I would love to meet an editor who owns a McLaren!
If I drove a McLaren I probably wouldn't be editing right now.

i'm sorry, I don't think people just buy FCP of the shelf - I think it's generally regarded as one of the best pieces of software on the marked (if not the market leader if you go by the article above.). As for research, just Google 'professional editing software' and apple.com/finalcutpro is the first hit (Avid.com comes on page
There are a lot of folks in our business who don't hear of Avid because it can't be bought at Best Buy.
Exactly. You walk into any decent Computer reseller and you can buy FCP or PremPro - both professional/broadcast standard applications. However I can't think of any 'high street' store that
"why would the author of this article feel that FCP was the reigning market leader?"
The reason as far a I can tell is that Avid doesn't promote itself in this industry.

Since then FC has improved its editing interface vastly and Avid has barely touched theirs.
I'm always confused and intriqued by this penchant for having the Avid interface "improved/updated". I'm constantly trying to discern what exactly that entails

I've got background importing! (It's called a second Avid)

I dunno! I've been asking for this since I stared in back in 94. I think we all have. If the guys at Avid can give us the AMA tool and Multi-format multi-resolution timelines - maybe the code for writing stereo tracks into the Audio Mixer is just a little too complicated. There must be some reason it's not there? (BTW I agree with everyone above

"find folder... find bin" Why not a "Find Clip" tool too. This would stop me having to go into Media Tool every time I have to find a missing Clip or Effect from my project. There must be a simple way to do all this.
