• Re: BluRay delivery, DNxHD 120 or 185?

Luca, Theoretically yes. But once you get up to DNxHD120 compression rates the enemy is banding. I would work 185X so that if you render FX or grades this is kept to minimum. There is also the thorny subject of how the authoring package handles colorspace. Having the extra bits in your "master" is a good idea. Just my 2 lire... David

  • Re: External Scopes

Also have a look at Scopebox: http://www.divergentmedia.com/scopebox You will need an interface of some sort, perhaps even a BM one. I use an Aja I/O express into a Macbook Pro with an express card. The scopes are slightly more configurable than the Ultrascope, i.e. they can be full screen, or any combination. Scopebox allows an internal "link"
However if i click on the AJA control panel, it goes away.
Yes, that is what is supposed to happen. Sorry, I am out of ideas. Perhaps a complete re-install of MC and the drivers.

  • Re: No Audio Out to monitors

Very strange. Does the Kona Control panel say "In use by Avid" top right in red?
Systems sounds interesting DO NOT play through the AJA. But why would FCP play than?
Jack, It is probably irrelevant but you can choose "Aja PCI card" for your default audio output in the sound panel of the system preferences. Could some setting in FCP be hanging on to the Kona? Grabbing at straws

  • Re: No Audio Out to monitors

I am using a Kona 3 and have not seen your problem. Try uninstalling and re-installing the Aja card driver and the OpenIO driver. (I am currently using 10.4.2) Do the system sounds and iTunes also play through the Kona Card? Perhaps try calibration tone- that will send to all the Kona 3G outputs.

  • Re: Superblack keeps re-appearing when exporting XDCAM HD

The overshoots are something that occurs when you hard clip. It is possibly connected with the MC clipping in 12 bit and when you render the media becomes 8 or ten bit. Try adding a very slight curve at 16 and 235 in the colour corrector in the luminance channel. This will soft clip at legal levels gently and remove the spikes.
is there no way to tell AVID to take Video through the AJA but AUDIO through another source?
No, not that I know of. Is the audio 48kHz?

  • Re: No Audio Out to monitors

Possibles: Check that the Aja control panel has the Audio Monitor output set to Ch 1-2 (It can be launched from the Audio Project Settings with the cog thingy to the right of the Periperal pane.) Be aware that only 48KHz Audio is supported with Media Composer. Fill out your system Specs...

  • Re: MC 7 Title Tool Colors Not Matching

I am seeing it here as well. The video image in the title tool window is clipped in the blacks and has a gamma shift. The blue gain is low and the darker areas have a blue tint. (There is a bug that has been escalated that default white titles are out of 709 gamut at 255)
