I'd try resetting the PRAM, wiping the avid user settings, and making sure that the shop didn't upgrade your version of quicktime or anything like that.
-
Maybe there is a list somewhere that details what settings are site vs. personal. I've never thought this system made any sense. Is there a "restore to default" option for fonts? I don't think so.

HFS+ is Mac OS Extended. Just do Mac OS Extended (Journaled) in Disk Utility. Whatever the default is. Your PC won't be able to read the drive is the problem. So once you're done how do you get the files onto the PC? Network is what I describe above. Or there is software that allows you to read Mac volumes on PC.
-
That is why you are seeing the error "unable to write to Creating5." Once you format/capture to the HFS+ drive, you could get on the PC and share a folder on the network. Access it from the MAC and copy the media that way. That will take a while but won't cost anything.
-
I don't think this is a good idea. Just use an external drive or capture to "Macintosh HD" if you're stuck without one. You can use the consolidate feature to copy the media to another drive later. To even try this I would probably create a 50GB or greater hard disk image in Disk Utility - which is just going to be a wasting space
-
I assume that your target disk is your external HDD? Is your external HDD formatted HFS+? Has to be mac formatted.

If you're on 3.5 and above maybe you'll get some timecode...Last time I imported a clip from the Mark II I was on 3.0.1 which doesn't read TC on quicktimes. Yes importing into a 1080i project worked for me. Looked great and the audio imported as well. I had to install the latest RAW camera update from Apple first, but I'm sure everyone

The drive really needs to be mac-formatted, too. Can't do NTFS or FAT32. Another thing to check.
-
And you have the RS232-RS422 converter, too? I did the same thing. No deck control without it.

Good question...That project has been shelved for now but I like your idea and I don't see why it wouldn't work. I'm a FCP novice, though. I'll give it a try if/when I get to that point.
