  • Re: G5's, MacPro's & MC 3

Thanks. A few additional reboots and no specific tweaks and it started working. Life is good. Thanks for the thoughts about QT. I don't think I'll ever know exactly what the issue was.

  • Re: G5's, MacPro's & MC 3

I've been digging around the forums this morning in hopes of finding out why 3.0 isn't working on my Dual 2.3 G5 (running 10.5.4) with 4.5 GB Ram. This thread seems most encouraging (indicating that it should work). However, it seems that elsewhere I'm finding contradictory information (granted, that's from a month ago). Hopefully someone

  • Re: HD closed-captioning

OK, so this was nearly 2.5 years ago and I'm wondering if things have changed. I'll post a new thread on the matter, but I wanted to tag onto this - just in case. dave

  • Closed Captions

I want to insert changes onto an HDSR closed caption master - and maintain closed captioning. I've done this plenty on a Symphony in SD, but now I want to do it to my 1080i master. I've done a few searches to confirm it will work - but all I've found is various posts from 2-4 years ago saying this was not possible. I'm wondering if things

  • Re: MAC OS X - Leopard

OK, I'm a huge Mac OS fan and I'm anxious to get Leopard too - but seriously... Which is more important? 1) a cool up to date OS with nice iChat features, TimeMaching, a new Dock design and improved Spotlight performance 2) a highly functional, stable editing system What's the rush to get the Leopard upgrade? As an extreme example: many large post houses

  • Re: 2:1 is it really bad? Need Feedback!

Agreed... "Crap." We've done hundreds of shows on a Unity at 2:1 with no troubles. If you need the space and you can handle the quality difference (1:1 is better - if you really look for it), then 2:1 is a fine solution.

  • Curious About Mixdowns

What valid uses are there for video mixdowns. Ages ago - when I hadn't learned how to nest - I used them occasionally, but not anymore... Then, I got thinking and I'm curious how/whatfor/when anyone actually uses them. I avoid mix-downs at almost any cost (I don't want to sacrifice time-code, handles, flexibility, batch capability, and so forth). And

  • Re: turning a sequence into a clip

If it's your first time consolidating a sequence - then "complicated" is definitely the right word (dangerous also comes to mind). Don't worry - after a few times, it'll be like old hat and it starts to make perfect sense. As for video mix-downs. I'd be interested in how/when people actually do use them. I avoid them like the plague for nearly 10 years

  • Re: Multicam Editing

Are your grouped clips (the ones that wont play in the split window) made up of clips of differing resolutions (you've captured at 3 different resolutions)? Mixed-resolution-multi-cam-groups didn't used to be supported. I haven't tried it lately - so maybe it is finally supported, but maybe this is part of the problem?

  • Re: Moving project from Mac to PC adrenalin.

Set the mac to use Windows Compatible File Names... The two big problems this will avoid is 1) bin names that are too long 2) bin names without .avb on the end Both of these problems can be "fixed" manually, but it's easier to let the Mac MCA catch it all for you in advance. The Windows machine wont automatically recognize the bins as bins with .avb
