How can I import a quicktime as 2:1-progressive and not 2:1-interlaced in an 29.97 SD project??

The interlaced/non-interlaced option doesn't do it. When rendering an Avid codec movie (Meridian compressed) from outside Media Composer, I get the option for 2:1-interlaced or 2:1-progressive... but I don't seem to get that option anywhere inside Media Composer??
