  • Re: In Memoriam Larry Rubin

Shattering news - I couldn't believe it when Sef emailed me, but sadly, it is true. I have so much to thank Larry for - he truly helped me many times - gently, kindly, warmly, in a friendly manner, and above all, patiently. No question was too silly for him. A true gentleman. A very very sad and sudden loss indeed. Snatched from us in his prime

Dumb question, but have you rendered the MC timeline with the title on? I don't think just rendering the title from Marquee is enough...

It wouldn't surprise me to learn that a majority of the people who like the Smart Tool are ex Liquid users. In other words, its what you're used to doing, workflow-wise. Those who learned using it find it a great addition to MC. Those who learned without it apparently find it an annoying addition. Big thing is, MC offers both workflows - so

... and in total contrast - I am an absolute amateur, making movies purely for fun. I 'fell' into MC when the editor I previously used went EOL, and have not regretted a minute of it. I learned from the free tutorials mentioned in this thread - and by asking questions here. MC, once you've got the hang of it, is a joy to use. I did lash

Can I add two penn'th here ... A Morph as Douglas states, in loose and general terms, is the changing of an image into 'something else. That can be, say, a nose stretching out Pinocchio-like, or it can be a person's whole face transforming into the head of an animal (say). However, in the 'morphing world' - i.e., in a programme dedicated

OK, I have now done the 'menu' test - I actually grabbed a 'black' still from the movie (probably easier to have just selected a 'black background' for the menu, but ! wanted to follow the instructions/suggestion as closely as I could), used that as the menu background in Avid DVD, all settings as shown earlier in this thread

Thanks Douglas. I think! (One should always be sure one can understand the answer before asking the question, but then, perhaps that's why one question, discovery or finding will always lead on to another...). No more questions m'lud...

So ... I capture an SD video. Make the movie. Compress or collapse the video tracks. Transcode to DNxHD185 (what the heck does that stand for????) Export as a QT Ref (but not to a network drive... Avid DVD doesn't like network drives.) In Avid DVD, choose SD DVD ... back where I started. I wonder if forcing SD to HD, then back to SD really does
