  • Liquid 8 was announced at 2005 Liquid Immersion

I will start a new thread since the other one was locked .....???????????????? At Liquid Immersion 2005 Jim Thill and Tim Wilson both stated numerous times that Liquid was on a one year release cycle. They clearly said that Liquid 8 was in development for an on time release. They also strongly indicated the release date would be late fall 2006. This

  • Re: Nvidia VS ATI: The Readback Performance Battle

v video777: ATI Rules!!! There's a reason that they are officially supported by Avid. Reason?... probably some kind of kick back deal... just like in the movies... Avid puts ATI on their recommended page and gets paid. And remember, these mysterious all-knowing "developers" are the one's who came up with the brilliant releases 6.0 and 7.0. At some point

  • Re: Subtitles in AVID or other way to add them in DVD-VOB

Here is a link that explains briefly the 3 ways to create subtitles in Adobe Encore. The three ways apply to other DVD programs as well: 1. Within the authoring program with the built-in tools. 2. In a a text file with a special format that will be imported into the authoring program. 3. In a 3rd party subtitle program that creates a file that can be

  • Re: Been there, done that - tell us!

From the youtube.com help page for the videos uploaded to their site : What's the best format to upload for high quality? We recommend the MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format at 320x240 resolution with MP3 audio. Resizing your video to these specifications before uploading will help your clips look better on YouTube. I recetly (within the last month) had to put

  • Re: exporting problems

Try a straight fuse first, checking the box to bring the clip back in. This will put everything together in a single avi clip. Then export this fused avi.

  • Re: Avid and Canopus Codecs

I do not believe it would be a good idea to depend on Liquid (or any of its claims) until you fully and thoroughly test your workflow. There are many codec issues with Liquid that have not been addressed or even responded to forever. Many of these issues don't affect very many people, but when they affect you, they can kill you. Don't expect straight

  • Re: flv files

brucewagner: Are you saying that.... If I want to do Flash encoding (to an FLV file), that I would get better quality by using On2 Flix Pro with 2-pass encoding.... than if I were to use the Flash encoding built-in to Liquid 7? Yes. Same goes for Mpeg encoding. If you want a quality encode, don't use the Liquid encoder.

  • Re: Opinions wanted on HD cameras

smyers63: Here's something from the blogs that I just found. It's about a JVC HD-111 used with Liquid 7. Article Any thoughts on this one? That's the European model of the GY-HD110U, the U.S. model. Here are the JVC cameras: U.S. VERSIONS GY-HD100U original U.S. version GY-HD100U(A) original U.S. version with "A" upgrade GY-HD110U current version of

  • Re: Opinions wanted on HD cameras

As Lew says, and as Stephen N. will totally support, the JVC progressive brand of HDV is what works best in Liquid. That means the JVC cameras are the options. I have recently acquired an HD110, so I will try AL7 again. I work daily with DV and use LE6.1 for this, though I use nothing in Liquid except it's editing capabilities and fuse out to AVI. I

  • Re: Opinions wanted on HD cameras

Here are the two cameras that are cheaper: JVC GR-HD1 & Sony FX1 compare The Sony is 3-chip and 1080i. The JVC is 1-chip and 720p. Sony FX1 JVC GR-HD1 A very nice thing about the Sony camera is the Sony branded case made by Petrol. Here's the full range of Sony HDV consumer cameras. Sony has a new one coming out in October that lists for $1500.
