  • Re: Editing 4k footage in 1080i project

How are you bringing the media into MC? Linking or importing. If importing (or linking and then transcoding) what are you using for the format (DNxHD xxxx)? And are you editing in a UHD project and then downgrading, or in a HD project? Finally, to what are you exporting and at what settings?

Checking the BIOS for the capability is safe. All you need to do is to look and see if the HD graphics can be disabled (or marked as secondary). The other thing you can do is to disable the HD adapter in the Windows device manager and restart Windows. Just do a savepoint first, just in case. With the adapter disabled, the Radeon becomes the primary

I edited the post with the bad link and fixed it to point to the proper location.

Keith, Does your laptop have both Intel HD graphics and the Radeon card? If so, have you tried disabling the Intel graphics chip in the BIOS (if you can)? If both the onboard chip set and the Radeon are enabled, then Windows always sees the onboard chip as the primary display driver, and that's what MC (including MC First) will use, NOT the Radeon

  • Re: HELP! How do I up-res footage in sequence?

What is the original media? If you linked directly to DNxHD 36 then that's a proxy for the original. Or is the original linked media full resolution and you set your project to DNxHD 36?

  • Re: linking to or transcoding M4v or Dv footage

The service manager is in the Tools menu. In later versions of MC it's called Background Services. There are start and stop buttons and an icon that tells you if the services are running. And if the service manager menu isn't in the tools menu for 8.4, look elsewhere in the menus for it (things have been moved around over the various versions

  • Re: MC5 Diary

Thanks Much George!! So the short story is: 10-bit only supported by Avid generic plug-in. No support in QT at all. Very short transcodes may work (same as XAVC-S). Long transcodes fail. In general, transcodes fail. 8-bit needs Convert to Project frame rate to transcode. QT plug-in does not support MP4 files (which is interesting as the QT library most

  • Re: GH5 4K files will NOT transcode. Constant Errors.

At this point, what we really need is someone with a GH5 do do a bunch of tests: In 8-bit (4:2:0) Link to short (5-minute or less) MP4 and QT files using Avid Generic and QT plug-ins. Transcode both using defaults. Transcode both using Set Framerate to Project. Link to long (20-minute or longer) MP4 and QT files using Avid Generic and QT plug-ins. Transcode

I don't think the error will happen with the QT plug-in. It seems to be an MP4 container issue only.

George, Could you please try transcoding a long (30+ minute clip)? I'd like to see if you get a pipe stall error or if it completes (just trying to update the bug reports to Avid).
