  • Re: Everything offline??????

ahhhh...Maybe Avid was storing some stuff to my storage drive. I better check my media creation settings. Thanks for your help guys. I'm a little rusty here so please forgive my ignorance. I've been an AE graphic artist for the past few years and haven't used Avid extensively for awhile now.

Okay, calming down now. Sorry. I looked around my computer and found that one of my archive drives that's connected via firewire decided to power down for no particular reason. Even though there was no media what so ever on this archive drive that pertained to the current project that I was working on, Avid freaked out and knocked everything offline

Well crap! I need to go show this to the client. For now, I'll just import the rough mix down I was working with and tweak that the best I can. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I HATE when this stuff happens!

I don't know what kind of drives they are. They're just the internal drives. I can't remeber the brand at the moment. This project is actually a 30i project consisting of a bunch of wave files and soem QTs. I built this whole project in After Effects, exported the QTs to Avid, and then was just doing the audio mix in the Avid timeline. I

  • Everything offline??????

My project kept on freezing everytime I tried scrolling through the timeline, so I restarted my computer. When I launched Avid again and opened up my project, everytihng was offline. I tried relinking the media with no avail. I didn't change or delete a single thing. All of my media is stored on my internal storage drive. What gives?

Okay, finally got it fixed!!! I uninstalled the 1394 controller from the device manager, turned off the computer, took the card out (just for good measure) put the card back in, turned on the machine, Windows automatically reinstalled the card and everything is working as it should! Again, this was never an Avid issue, just a screwy PC. Thanks guys

I do realize that this is not an Avid program though. It's more of a Windows issue. I was just hoping someone would have some experience with this issue.

no, no. I've been down that road. Panasonic was actually very helpful when I called them. There are no drivers for DV cameras. Windows should just recognize it. Like I said, I've tried hooking up multiple cameras. It's not just the panasonic that's not being recognized.

  • firewire woes

So, I've been trying to get windows to recognize my camera for about two days. I've tried hooking up my Panasonic HVX200, and then an XL1S When I plug it in, it'll run through the new hardware wizard but then fail to install it properly. It'll show up in the device manager but with a question mark by it, signifying that it is not functioning

  • Really slow QT export

I'm exporting a 2 sec 1280x720 clip to my storage drive. No compression. Usually this would take about 20 sec. This morning however, it's taking over 10 min. Before you go calling me impatient, I've got about 40 of these clips to export. All of those minutes add up! I've restarted my computer, I have about 60GB left on my storage drive
