  • Re: Max length of recording in AirSpeed recommendation?

Thanks for all the info. The IMX40 was a typo the resolution will actually be IMX30. So it seems that there is no technical reason (other than ultimate storage capacity) why we cannot record long clips in MXF of 7 hours although, as you say, scrubbing through them will be 'interesting'. So does this men that the Media Composer 6 hour max clip

  • Max length of recording in AirSpeed recommendation?

Is there a maximum length of recording limit in AirSpeed when it is NOT under control of Capture Manager i.e. manual record? I understand that clips of more than 3 hours are not recommended when under CapMan control but I think that is a problem with the CapMan SQL database rather than the AirSpeed. I also remember that there used to be a 6 hour limit

  • Re: MXF files being incorrectly quarantined

Nowhere near... we've only just started a new project with freshly cleaned drives. Noticed that the system is also creating a temp folder in the Avid MediaFiles/MXF/1 folder despite the Transfer Manager software pointing to C:\temp which does exist.

  • MXF files being incorrectly quarantined

Got a really strange one here. We are working in DNxHD120 and a bunch of media files went offline suddenly without warning. Looked in the quarantined folder and they were there. So we dragged them back into the normal media folder, rescanned the database and they came back online. Then 20 minutes later... same thing. Created a couple more files from

  • Re: P2 Work Flow ISSUE

No sure about being able to help with question 1 since I work in PAL but for question 2... No it does not come in uncompressed since P2 is either HD (compressed DVCPro100) or SD (DVCPro25 or DVCPro50) so uncompressed video is not used. Secondly the import is not involving recompression. In fact not even re-wrapping since both Avid and P2 are MXF OP

  • Re: Help with 24PA DVCPro50 P2 footage

To speed up the process with regard to copying the media, you might try using the Panasonic P2 Viewer software and copy the media from the P2 Store to virtual P2 cards on your large disk array. You could then use the Windows SUBST command to map these virtual cards (which are normal Windows folders) to drive letters. These drives would then be 'seen

  • Re: HDV CAMERA????

HVX200 can record HD to P2 card only although the European version of the camera will have the ability to attach a Firewire HD to the camera to dump directly from P2 to the hard drive. Brian

If the clients are Ethernet connectd, check the bandwidth settings in the Connection Manager software. You may find the resolution you are trying to capture at is above the Connection manager settings. Brian

  • Re: Artifacts on IMX40 import via Transfer Manager

James, Flip Factory is configured to produce files of the correct dimensions. Since my first post I have been carrying out some tests and if I get FF to deliver the file as an IMX40 OP1a file to a different editing system (no names mentioned but a fruity one), the output file is fine. All other paramenter are the same so it's a bit baffling. I am wondering

  • Re: Software video legaliser?

Editors are the problem... or rather some of them we have can't use a waveform monitor. Am I correct in thinking that Symphony does have a software legaliser. If so, maybe if enough editors shouted, Avid might... just might... add it to Adrenaline ;-)
