  • Re: How do Floating licenses work?

I don't know if this is relevant, but our 2 x 20 floating license packs are provided to us by Avid as ALPs. I'vee now tried a fresh install of everything on the iMAc client and am still getting unstable license behaviour, including stupid error messages like: "This software was released past your contract expiration date (2598528/24576

  • Re: How do Floating licenses work?

Thanks Marianna That is not our experience with 45 mac clients, using Flexnet device manager to monitor what is happening. The majority of our suites launch and activate automatically. They appear under the devices list on Flexnet Devices manager, and then disappear from there immediately MC is closed. The license is immediately freed up, as shown by

  • How do Floating licenses work?

Usually when we launch a client it checks out a floating license from the volume license server. When we close MC on the client the license is returned to the pool, and no longer listed on fFexnet Device Manager. This is not happenning with some clients, some of the time. the license stays checked out for 6 hours or so. Why is this? I'd appreciate

  • MC hardware device with 4 AES outputs?

MC is unable to use 2 hardware devices - one for video and another for audio simultaneously - as Pro Tools does. So I'm looking for an MC [and Pro Tools] compatible output device that has 4 AES digital audio outputs as well as HDMI and SDI HD/2K/UHD. Any suggestions welcomed. Nigel

  • Re: 4K RED files in HD Project

Hi We tend to transcode to HD ProRes Proxy on Red projects, but if linking works for you it can be a good way to work. There are 2 things you really need to know: 1. The raster size of the camera files - determined by the recording format selected, and the AR the DoP was working to - using frame guides on the camera. 2. The output resolution and AR

  • Re: Which BM desktop video drivers for mini-monitor?

Wow - thanks. I'd never have seen that as I don't have any Avid artist I/O devices. Looks like it may be DNxIO specific: " Note: Avid has fully tested and supports Desktop Video 10.9.11 with Avid Artist | DNxIO and Avid Media Composer 8.9 or later. More recent releases of Desktop Video may become available from other sources but DNxIQ customers

Cheers. Where can you see what is officially supported? On the BMD site they are listed as supported MC18.x and PT18.x Nigel

  • Which BM desktop video drivers for mini-monitor?

We're using BlackMagic Ultrastudio mini-monitors in our suites and have previously experienced BM Desktop video drivers causing problems with MC. I'm setting up a new client with MC 18.4 and PT 18.4 on Mac OS 10.13.3, and wondering whether to use Desktop video v10.9.11, 10.9.12 or 10.10. Does anybody have experience of any of these versions

  • Re: NEXIS 18.4 download?

I see - thanks for the explanation. I'll have to tame the 'neat freak' in me that wanted to see 18.4 on NEXIS, MC and PT! regards, Nigel
