While it does continue to have an output link to Sorenson Squeeze, Avid no longer supports the EOL product. Not an unusual or unexpected thing. ;)

Chiming in on this... my experience working with audio is to only make subtle changes in input/output volume within effects processors to minimise noise. I think it is a good habit to keep any and all effects on the low side (resisting the urge to go overboard)... and to have a good set of studio monitors, quality headphones and cheap speakers to evaluate

Doing an uninstall prior to a new update used to be advised but we have installed new updates over the current installation for years without issues. If you are updating from an older version it is probably advisable to do a full uninstall. Doing an uninstall is relatively painless. fwiw.

I just came across this old post... fwiw, I went with the Ipad Pro after discovering Astropad which allows me to use mainstream programs, incl. Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. on my Mac Pro and draw on the Ipad Pro. It basically turns the iPad Pro into a Wacom Cintique.

While the current version (Media Composer 2018.12) does, I don't want to speculate on whether Avid will continue to provide an internal link in future versions. But, you can always use Sorenson Squeeze as a stand-alone, separately licensed product...apart from Media Composer.
