Hello, Steve, When did you buy MC7, outright? And, do you mean you purchased a Perpetual License? I believe it comes with a one year service plan. You would have to keep up a currrent Avid Support Plan by renewing each year. Check your Avid Master Account. That said, it looks like neither laptop nor desktop meet minimum system requirements; the laptop

Hi, Rob, You appear to be in a more fortunate position than Chiron Ent and myself. You do not show your graphics card in your specs. According to what you do show in your complete system specs, your system appears to meet minimum system specs for the latest version of MC. If you have a current Avid Support Plan, have you thought about doing the upgrade
So if I purchase the latest version of Avid Media Composer I will have no issues whatsoever with Windows 10 affecting the programs startup?
If you have a current Avid Support Plan for your Media Composer, no additional purchase is necessary. However, if your system specs are actually as shown at

Hey, Rob, et al., Well, here's an interesting twist... I'm back to MC 7.0.7. It opens just fine, but it's giving the same error message as 7.0.5 did. When the Avid Support Representative ended the service call, and closed the case, MC7.0.5 was opening successfully, but was giving an error message: Exception: RGBAReader_UNKNOWN_COMPRESSION_TYPE

Hey, Rob, Yes, I see that. The versions from 6.5.5 to 7.0.6 have been deleted. We installed 7.0.5 from a copy I have on my suite computer. As it turns out, it's not working as well as I originally thought when we got it running, yesterday. Every little change is met with an error message; "Exception: RGBAreader_UNKNOWN_COMPRESSION_TYPE"

Hi, all, I've had the same problem with MC 7.0.7 starting on Sunday the 7th, after the Windows Update. Exactly the same crash point. I spent most of yesterday with Avid Support to come up with a solution. Eventually, I decided to do a rollback. The update had installed a new version, 1709, build 16XXX. Prior to the upgrade the version was 1703,

Hi, Philip, Thanks for the correction. I was going from my experience. I have had QT Pro installed on my PCs since before I first purchased Avid Xpress DV in 2002 or 2003. I always thought QT Pro was a requirement for Avid, up through all the revisions. I remember doing a clean install of MC a few versions back, and I had uninstalled QT Pro because

The error message indicates you were trying to consolidate rather than transcode. Be sure you have selected the correct clip in your bin. After you click Consolidate/Transcode from the dropdown menu, be sure to check the Transcode box in the controls window. The Consolidate box is checked by default. Strange it should be telling you it's offline

Hi, Steve (BarkinMadd), I only own Windows PCs. I've always entered the product key using the registration function in the QT player after a clean install. I didn't know about entering it in the Windows Control Panel applet. I never noticed the option to enter the key during the installation process. Could you give me more details? In my understanding

Hi, Pat, As a forum moderator, and with your expertise as a trainer, I take your posts as a next-best-thing to an official announcement or recommendation. I have a project with a near-final version deadline in mid-May, and a picture lock in June. I can't wait very long for a solution, and have to be working, now, without interruption. I need to
