So if the timeline has a mix of SD and HD material would you recommend editing in an HD timeline and applying a pillar-box effect to the 4x3 SD material?
Upconverting SD to HD in software and down converting in hardware seems like a long way to go. I suggest switching the format to SD and using one of the

Console Commands are unsupported and generally unfinished features. So its not completely surprising that it doesn't work fully. You can always install the 30 day trial of Media Composer 4.0 on a different computer and use the Commit MultiCam Edits command on the sequence and bring it back to the Symphony.

In 4.0 there's an option to Commit MultiCam Edits. This will create a duplicate of the Sequence with only the clips used and none of the group clips. This sounds like it will solve this.
-
Open the sequence without the corrections and place the sequence with the Symphony Color Corrections in the source side. Enter the color corrector and right click on the center monitor and Merge Corrections. By their nature, Segment corrections will not merge, so use Master Clip or Tape.
The corresponding version of Symphony to MC v2.8 wass v1.8. Symphony skipped a version 2, and went directly from v1.8.x to v3.0.x. And, as BLKDOG said, any version of Symphony will work.
To be safe, I'd say, any version of SN 1.8+. There were some features added in MC 2.8 that won't be in SN 1
we are thinking about switching the pc to an 8400 since the 8600 doesn't have enough slots for the Nitris DS cards, is the 8400 fast enough for version 4?
Its not that it doesn't have enough slots, it doesn't have enough PCI-X slots. You also need to be sure the version of DS matches the version

This is the only way I know to export an OP1a XDCAM HD MXF file. As far as I know, this doesn't work in 3.5.x, but I honestly haven't tried it. My suggestion is to copy the contents of an empty XDCAM disk to a folder and use AMA to link to this folder. I placed one here if you need one. This isn't officially supported and is a bit of a hack

It sounds like something is happening to the sequence when its checked-in to Interplay. The traditional Post/Project Sharing workflow is fully supported with Interplay. For good reason the workflow designer might have instructed you to not use Project sharing, but if you're having this issue, for the time being at least, you should be using project

I assume they mean a DVCProHD QuickTime file from FCP. To play and import these files you'll need the DVCProHD codec. I suggest the Raylight Decoder from DVFilm. If a QuickTime file can be imported or not has little to do with Media Composer and everything QuickTime. If QT can't play the file, it can't be imported. The DVCProHD codec is
Bill at Stagetools : "Avid can now set the field mode on a per-clip basis, so check that setting on the Avid and make sure it's set to progressive." Me : "Thanks for your reply. I guess you're alluding to the fact that since version 3? you can mix interlaced and progressive on one timeline. Does
