  • Re: Working with XDCAM Media

Doesn't work well for us. It's awful. I've had many people email me telling me the same thing. I dealt with avid support about it numerous times and they seem clueless about it. We have no way to ingest media with SDI, so we have to rely on the FW connection of the camera and deck. We can import proxy media fine, but when using the batch

Unfortunately, avid media composer doesn't work like it's supposed to. It loses reference to media files, batch import doesn't work correctly. Export doesn't work. The process looks to be great, it just doesn't work yet. Hopefully this is fixed in MC 3.0, otherwise we might have to go to Final Cut.

We only currently have a mojo sdi. Is it possible to capture hd sdi into that? I didn't think it was but i could be mistaken. We are going to add the HD Expansion card to our adrenaline station in the middle of the year, but we have to wait until our budget gets set.

Hi, I just uninstalled 2.8 and reinstalled 2.7.7 and the import process seems to be working better. It is still very buggy and sometimes imports the proxies again instead of the high rez hd when doing a batch import, but at least with 2.7.7 the avid recognizes when there is a disk in the deck and uses the disk labels correctly. It still takes about

Hi, We are using a pdw-F70 recorder/player. I didn't decompose the sequence that particular time when it took 2 hours. I did however decompose a different sequence i was experimenting with earlier and that was when i noticed the avid wasn't seeing the disk labels. The avid would ask for the disk labeled for example "disk1" or "disk2" but when I put

  • XDCAM and MC 2.8

Hi, just wondering if anyone has downloaded the new 2.8 update and has got the xdcam to work with avid like it is supposed to. My experience is it is almost worse. (Many of the same old problems listed here plus now Avid doesn't even recognize the disc labels and the set file location button doesn't do anything. It works fine if you import the proxies

Yes, it seems to have solved the issue, sort of. It works sometimes and sometimes still screwed up. Seems to work with sd footage but not HD.

  • XDCAM Export To Device

We're having write back issues using the XDCAM Export to Device feature within Avid Media Composer. We can export one sequence to a XDCAM device with no problem. However, if we try to export a 2nd sequence to the same disk, the Avid goes thru the export process and is writing the file to the disk but the file then disappears from the disk once the process

  • Slow Unity on Ethernet Clients

We have avid unity lanshare running medianet 4.2.3. We currently have 2 fibre clients and 4 ethernet clients. The fibre clients work great and are very responsive. Our ethernet clients seem to be much slower. I realize that is somewhat normal but does anyone know if it is normal to have to wait 2-3 seconds after hitting play on a clip or sequence before

Thanks for all the suggestions and info guys, I really appreciate it. It's good to know that we aren't the only ones experiencing the XDCAM problems. We've tried many different things and still haven't found a way to get it to work. We're probably just going to quit using the proxies until Avid gets it working. It's more time consuming and a pain in
